Why it stands out
The 2022 Dodge Challenger stands out as a modern muscle car that keeps a classic formula alive. It is part of the Challenger’s third generation, a long-running design that was largely unchanged over the years but kept fresh with a variety of powertrains, head-turning colors, numerous special editions, and a 2015 facelift. It was also built to compete with the Ford Mustang and the Chevrolet Camaro, and its appeal comes from that mix of old-school attitude and broad performance variety.
For 2022, the Challenger’s strengths include its user-friendly Uconnect infotainment system with a touchscreen, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay, along with a practical five-passenger cabin. It was designed on a platform suitable for both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive, and the model offered a wide range of Pentastar V6 and Hemi V8 engines, plus manual and automatic transmissions. Performance-minded shoppers could also find features such as adaptive suspension, launch control, Brembo brakes, and Mopar tuning options, while special editions added visual flair through spoilers, hood scoops, unique fascia and grille designs, special upholstery, and distinctive badging.
There are tradeoffs, though. The Challenger’s size and long production run meant many examples were neglected or abused, and some model years in this generation are known for engine problems. Even so, the 2022 Challenger remains appealing for buyers who want a muscle car with strong personality, lots of configuration choices, and a cabin that blends retro style with modern tech.

I have had 3 challengers v-6,Daytona 392 scat pack and now the hellcat. What I like is the auto stick option and the paddles ,it’s not manual but it’s as close to it as possible.I owned a 2023 Shelby and it wasn’t manual either but it had a turn knob and also paddles and in comparison I think they’re pretty much the same I like the fact that the hellcat has a few more options the set.pack etc.and it’s roomier also. The power is definitely there and the roaring is fun to hear. I wish I could test drive a redeye and a demon just for comparison, but the hellcat is awesome in my opinion.

Reviewed a 2022 Dodge Challenger on Jun 12, 2024
Challenger Hellcats are purchased primarily for the powerful engines. The car also has most features you would expect in a performance automobile: AC, nice stereo, power adjustable drivers seat. 2023 was the last year for the Hellcats and Hemi engines. Cars 2 to 3 years or older with low mileage may be great values. These cars are heavier than most other sports cars and not as nimble on curves but straight line speed is impressive with the Hellcats. Others to consider would be the Corvette and Mustang.

| Current Average Price | $33,509 |
| Year-Round Low | $31,593 |
| Year-Round High | $35,627 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $33,605 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −0.29% |

There are 3,431 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare before you buy.
Is the 2022 Dodge Challenger a good car?
Yes — the 4.72/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise the fun-to-drive character, plenty of power, classic styling, and comfortable interior, while also appreciating the quiet cabin and plush seating. For you, that means the 2022 Challenger fits best if you want a muscle car with retro appeal, modern tech, and a practical five-passenger cabin. With 31.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have room to shop selectively.
Is the 2022 Dodge Challenger reliable?
Owners rate it 4.72/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback also points to a car that feels dependable in daily use, with a comfortable cabin and a blend of modern technology and classic appeal that owners tend to trust over time. That said, you should still approach any used example with care because long-term ownership risk depends heavily on how the car was maintained and driven.
What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Dodge Challenger?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 79% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should prioritize a history report first, then focus on a thorough pre-purchase inspection so you can spot signs of hard use, neglect, or prior damage. Pay close attention to overall condition, since this model’s size and performance-oriented appeal can mean some examples have been driven more aggressively than average. If possible, look closely at maintenance records and make sure the car’s condition matches the seller’s description.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Dodge Challenger?
This is a moderate buyer’s market, so you can shop selectively and still find worthwhile listings.
- Deal availability: 31.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 3,431 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 79.0% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $31,593, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2022 Dodge Challenger's resale value?
The current average of $33,509 sits slightly below last year's $33,605.
That small decline suggests the market has been fairly stable, which can help future sellers because you are not dealing with a sharp drop in value. The year-round price range also shows that buyers are still willing to pay a meaningful premium for well-kept examples, especially when condition and equipment are strong. If you maintain the car well and keep it clean on history and condition, you should be in a better position when it is time to sell.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.72/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2022 Dodge Challenger or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2022 if:
- 31.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 79% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.72/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2021 if:
- At $31,496, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $33,509 average.
- It emphasizes straight-line speed and performance value.
Consider the 2023 if:
- At $43,087, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $33,509 average.
- It adds final-year special editions and more extreme horsepower.
The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price stability, inventory, and owner satisfaction, the 2022 is the primary year to target. If you are more price-sensitive, the 2021 is the better value play, while the 2023 makes sense only if you want the final-year special-edition appeal and are willing to pay more.
