Is the 2018 Toyota Sequoia a good car?

Yes — the 5/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. The 2018 Toyota Sequoia stands out as a big, truck-based family SUV that leans on durability and capability rather than flash, and its three-row layout makes it a practical choice if you need space for people and gear. The refreshed model year also adds modern safety equipment, including Toyota’s SafetySense features, a blind spot monitor, and rear cross-traffic alert, which help make a large SUV easier to live with. 33.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2018 Toyota Sequoia reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. The 2018 Toyota Sequoia is described as having a reputation for dependability, with reliable powertrains and proven hardware that fit its rugged, truck-based design. Its appeal is rooted in durability and strong resale value, which is exactly what many used buyers want from a full-size SUV. For long-term ownership, you should still pay close attention to wear items and condition, since age and use can matter more than the badge on a vehicle like this.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Toyota Sequoia?

At 55.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. A pre-purchase inspection should focus on the frame, brakes, and underbody condition, since those are especially important on a large truck-based SUV. You should also pay close attention to overall maintenance records and signs of wear, because condition matters a lot on a vehicle built for heavy-duty use.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Toyota Sequoia?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 33.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 295 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.95% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $32,026, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Toyota Sequoia's resale value?

The current average of $32,680 sits slightly below last year's $33,675.

That price movement suggests the market has eased a bit, which can help you buy more confidently now if you plan to keep the vehicle for a while. For a future seller, the softer trend means resale gains may be more limited in the near term, so condition and mileage will matter even more when it is time to list it. The Sequoia’s reputation for strong owner satisfaction and durable hardware should still help support demand over time.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Toyota Sequoia or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 33.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 55.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.95% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2018 if you want the refreshed styling and added safety features, along with the Sequoia’s established reputation for durability and strong resale value. If you are especially price-sensitive, a nearby model year may be worth comparing, but the 2018 remains a compelling choice when you want a full-size SUV with proven hardware and family-friendly space.
