CarGurus Analysis: 2018 Toyota Corolla

Summary
With 1,580 currently listed for sale and an average price of $14,553.00, 30.8% of 2018 Toyota Corollas for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2018 Toyota Corolla 4.2 / 5 stars.
47.5% of 2018 Corolla models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2018 Toyota Corolla stands out as a practical compact car that leans into value, efficiency, and everyday usability rather than flash. In this generation, Toyota broadened the Corolla lineup and gave it a sharper look, with arrow-shaped headlamps, balanced proportions, and sculpted sides helping it feel more modern than many recent Corollas. It also brought high-tech safety features into the mix, which adds to its appeal for buyers who want a car that feels reassuring and easy to live with.
There is real variety here, too. The Corolla sedan and hatchback are both available, the Corolla Hybrid is offered only as a sedan, and the GR Corolla is only available as a hatchback. Most versions use front-wheel drive, while the sedan and hybrid models are also available with all-wheel drive. The hybrid pairs a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine with electric motors for 121 combined horsepower and 52 mpg combined fuel economy, while gas models came with either a 1.8-liter engine making 139 horsepower or a 2.0-liter engine making 169 horsepower, depending on trim. Standard equipment on the entry-level sedan includes LED headlights and tail lights, a reversing camera, dynamic radar cruise control, lane departure alert, a seven-inch touchscreen, and voice recognition, which helps explain why the Corolla has such a strong reputation for being easy to own.
Later updates added more convenience and tech, including a 2023 facelift with fresh bumper designs, an eight-inch touchscreen, climate control, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support for all models. That same update also made all gas Corollas share the 2.0-liter engine and raised hybrid output to 134 horsepower with 156 pound-feet of torque. The Corolla’s strengths are clear: it is well engineered, dependable, and efficient. Its limitations are just as familiar, since some versions are still plain and the model range can feel more sensible than exciting.

The features are fantastic in the car the only downside is that the tire pressure light won’t turn off and there is a little wear and tear cosmetically but overall the car runs and drives great!

Ive owned many cars over the years, including Mercedes, Audi, Lexus, BMW, VW Passat to name a few. I also travel weekly for work and rent various models. Toyota Corolla is the finest car I have ever owned. Durable, reliable, simple, quick (enough), easy to work on, good on gas, maneuverable, and engineered to minimize customer frustrations. Selling our Corolla was a mistake. Were definitely getting another one.

2018 Toyota Corolla Price Trends
CarGurus tracks the prices of millions of used car listings every year. See how the average price of 2018 Toyota Corolla prices has changed over time.
See more price trendsHow much does the 2018 Toyota Corolla cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $14,513 |
| Year-Round Low | $13,510.04 |
| Year-Round High | $14,507.28 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $14,365 |
| Change vs. Last Year | +1.03% |
Prices are up 1.03% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.
There are 1,645 listings available, which gives you a decent amount of choice while you shop.
If you find a listing below $13,510.04, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2018 Toyota Corolla a good car?
Generally — the 4.2/5 user rating points to a well-liked used car. Drivers consistently praise its great gas mileage, reliability, and ease of driving, and they also value the comfortable interior and strong sense of everyday practicality. That lines up well if you want a compact car that prioritizes value and low-stress ownership over flash. With 30.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have room to shop selectively.
Is the 2018 Toyota Corolla reliable?
Owners rate it 4.2/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.
Drivers describe it as reliable, and the feedback also points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience that makes it easy to count on. The model’s reputation for efficiency and ease of driving reinforces that impression for used buyers.
For long-term ownership, your biggest risk is buying a car with hidden wear or poor maintenance history, so condition matters as much as the badge.
What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Toyota Corolla?
At 47.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with past damage. After that, prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive. Focus on overall condition, repair quality, and signs of uneven wear rather than relying on mileage alone.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Toyota Corolla?
This is a moderate market, so you can be selective without expecting a deep buyer’s-market bargain.
- Deal availability: 30.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 1,645 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices are up 1.03% year-over-year.
- Clean inventory: 47.4% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $13,510.04, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2018 Toyota Corolla's resale value?
The current average of $14,513 sits slightly above last year's $14,365.
That modest increase suggests the market has remained steady, which is a good sign if you plan to sell later. A car that holds close to its prior-year value usually benefits from consistent shopper interest rather than sharp depreciation. For you, that means a well-kept example should remain relatively easy to move when it’s time to trade or sell.
Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.2/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2018 Toyota Corolla or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2018 if:
- 30.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 47.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices are up 1.03% year-over-year.
- Owners rate it 4.2/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2017 if:
- At $13,875, the 2017 costs less than the current year's $14,513 average.
- It adds standard Safety Sense P and a refreshed front end.
The bottom line: If you want the stronger current-year market position and a broad pool of listings, the 2018 is the better starting point. If your priority is saving money upfront, the 2017 is the more price-conscious alternative and still brings meaningful safety upgrades.
