Drivers consistently praise its comfort, luxury, and interior space, and many also highlight its strong hauling ability and towing performance. Is the 2018 Lincoln Navigator reliable?

The owner feedback points to a vehicle that feels comfortable, luxurious, and capable over time, with many drivers describing it as strong for hauling and towing. That kind of praise suggests you can count on it to deliver the core luxury-SUV experience buyers expect.

The expert evaluation also emphasizes that the Navigator feels like a substantial, well-executed redesign with a strong sense of occasion, while the maintenance perks tied to Black Label ownership add a convenience advantage for buyers at the top end.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about the Navigator’s core mission and more about making sure any example you choose has been maintained carefully and doesn’t have unresolved electronics or equipment issues.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Lincoln Navigator?

At 69.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle-history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one with a lot of luxury equipment. Pay close attention to body condition, interior wear, and whether the technology and convenience features work as intended.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: Even the base Premiere is lavish, with 20-inch wheels, LED lighting, heated first- and second-row seats, power-folding second- and third-row seating, a 10-inch touchscreen, and a 12-inch reconfigurable instrument cluster. Higher trims add features such as adaptive suspension, 22-inch wheels, a heated steering wheel, a wireless charging pad, power side running boards, a panoramic dual-pane sunroof, ventilated front seats, and Black Label-exclusive luxury touches.
• Powertrain: Every trim uses a 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged EcoBoost V6 with 450 horsepower and 510 pound-feet of torque, paired with a 10-speed automatic. Rear-wheel drive is standard, with 4WD available on lower trims and standard on Reserve and Black Label. Fuel economy is 16 mpg city, 23 highway, 19 combined with RWD, and 16/21/18 with 4WD.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes front- and side-impact airbags, LATCH, tire pressure monitoring, a reversing camera, Side Wind Stabilization, and blind-spot warning. Black Label adds lane-departure warning, forward-collision warning and mitigation with pedestrian detection, and adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go.
• Infotainment: You get a 10-inch touchscreen with Sync 3, plus Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa compatibility through AppLink. The system also includes volume and tuning knobs, and higher trims can add rear-seat entertainment and a premium Revel audio system.
• Fuel efficiency: The Navigator returns 16 mpg city, 23 highway, 19 combined in RWD form, and 16 mpg city, 21 highway, 18 combined with 4WD.

Which 2018 Lincoln Navigator trim should I buy?

The 2018 Lincoln Navigator is offered in 4 trim levels: Premiere, Select, Reserve, and Black Label.

Here's the short version:

• Premiere: This is the value starting point because it already gives you a lot of luxury content, including heated first- and second-row seats, power-folding rear seating, a 10-inch touchscreen, a 12-inch digital cluster, and a long list of standard convenience features. If you want the lowest entry price without giving up the Navigator’s core experience, this is the trim to start with.
• Select: This is the best-value upgrade if you want more everyday comfort and convenience. It adds adaptive suspension, 22-inch wheels, a heated steering wheel, a wireless charging pad, power side running boards, and a 360-degree camera, making it a strong middle-ground choice.
• Reserve: This trim is for you if you want a more upscale feel, with a panoramic dual-pane sunroof, heated and ventilated front seats, a backlit Lincoln grille emblem, and unique 22-inch wheels. It also gets standard 4WD, which may matter if you want extra traction.
• Black Label: This is the top luxury choice, with exclusive interior themes, the heavy-duty trailer package, and the technology package. It also adds the most advanced safety content, including lane-departure warning, forward-collision warning and mitigation with pedestrian detection, and adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go.

The safety-package trim note is simple: the most advanced driver-assistance features are reserved for Black Label, so if those matter to you, shop accordingly.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Lincoln Navigator?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile opportunities.

• Deal availability: 33.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 621 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.32% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 69.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $26,608, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Lincoln Navigator's resale value?

The current average of $26,774 sits slightly below last year's $29,856.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can be good news if you’re buying now but less favorable if you’re planning to sell soon. If you own one, pricing pressure means you may need to be realistic when you list it, especially if your Navigator lacks desirable equipment or has visible wear.

On the other hand, the Navigator’s strong luxury appeal and broad usefulness can help support demand among shoppers who want a full-size SUV with real presence. Well-kept examples with the right features should still attract attention, even in a softer market.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.86/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2018 Lincoln Navigator safe?

The 2018 Lincoln Navigator earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes front- and side-impact airbags, LATCH, tire pressure monitoring, a reversing camera, Side Wind Stabilization, and blind-spot warning. Black Label adds lane-departure warning, forward-collision warning and mitigation with pedestrian detection, and adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go.

That means you should pay close attention to trim level if safety tech matters to you, because the most advanced driver-assistance features are not standard across the lineup. For a large SUV, the standard crosswind-stability feature is also a useful practical touch.

Should I buy a 2018 Lincoln Navigator or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 33.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 69.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.32% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.86/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2018 stands out for its redesigned cabin, strong towing ability, and the sense that Lincoln had rediscovered a more distinctive luxury identity.

The bottom line: If you want the best mix of price, luxury presence, and strong owner satisfaction, the 2018 is the year to focus on. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you can still shop carefully and target the lower end of the market, but you should be selective about condition and equipment so you don’t give up the Navigator’s best qualities.
