Is the 2018 Lexus ES a good car?

Yes — the 2018 Lexus ES earns a 4.85/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its luxurious feel, roomy interior, and smooth ride, and they also highlight the wide array of features and strong value for a luxury car. Is the 2018 Lexus ES reliable?

Owners rate it 4.85/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with praise centered on the car’s smooth, refined nature and overall value. That kind of response suggests the ES is the sort of used luxury sedan you can count on for steady daily driving rather than constant attention. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about the car’s core appeal and more about finding one that has been maintained well and not worn hard.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Lexus ES?

At 56.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with prior damage. After that, prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive. Focus on overall condition, maintenance records, and how well the cabin features and electronics work, since those details matter most in a comfort-oriented luxury sedan.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Lexus ES?

This is a moderate market, so you can be selective without expecting a deep buyer’s market.

• Deal availability: 35.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 763 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.65% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 56.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $21,654, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Lexus ES's resale value?

The current average of $22,848 sits slightly below last year's $23,230.

That softer pricing can help you buy more carefully now, but it also means future resale gains may be limited unless you choose a well-kept example. If you plan to sell later, condition and documentation will matter a lot, especially in a market where shoppers have plenty of comparable listings to choose from. A clean history and strong presentation should help your car stand out when it is time to move on.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.85/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Lexus ES or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 35.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 56.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.65% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.85/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2018 if you want the classic Lexus formula of comfort, space, and strong owner approval at a price that has eased a bit. If you are especially price-sensitive, a nearby year may be worth comparing, but the 2018 remains the better pick when you want a well-liked luxury sedan with broad appeal and a reasonable market position.
