How much does the 2018 Jeep Wrangler cost?

Prices have softened 10.20% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 7,833 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for comparison shopping.

Is the 2018 Jeep Wrangler a good car?

Yes — the 2018 Jeep Wrangler earns a 4.54/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Form and function and Cost effectiveness.

Owners consistently praise its pep, handling, and iconic design, and they also like features such as remote start. The review also points to the Wrangler’s improved drivability and its unmistakable character, which fits especially well if you want a rugged, open-air SUV with a loyal following. The Unlimited version is framed as a solid-axle, body-on-frame four-door with very few direct rivals, so it makes the most sense if you value capability and personality over mainstream refinement.

The market shows 34.4% good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2018 Jeep Wrangler reliable?

Owners rate it 4.54/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a vehicle that feels dependable in daily use, with praise for its drivability improvements and the kind of character owners tend to count on over time. The expert review also emphasizes that the Wrangler’s core formula remains familiar while its performance, practicality, and technology are thoroughly improved. On the ownership side, the model’s strong resale value suggests buyers continue to trust it, even if its rugged design comes with compromises.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about mechanical appeal and more about whether the vehicle has been treated carefully, since wear, modifications, and hard use can matter a lot on a Wrangler.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Jeep Wrangler?

At 72.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a full vehicle history report and then prioritize a hands-on inspection of body condition, panel fit, and signs of off-road wear. Pay close attention to the interior and exterior for evidence of hard use, since this model’s rugged personality can hide abuse that matters later. It also makes sense to focus on how the vehicle has been maintained and whether its equipment works as expected.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Sahara adds step rails, silver-painted exterior accents, and 18-inch wheels, while the base Sport and top Rubicon use knobbier tires on smaller 17-inch rims. The interior also varies by trim, with the Sahara bringing a more upscale feel through features like a soft leather steering wheel and stitched dash.
• Powertrain: The 3.6-liter V6 is paired with a six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic, and a turbocharged 2.0-liter four with eTorque is also available. The four-cylinder is the efficiency leader, while the V6 is described as strong and responsive.
• Infotainment: Sport models use a five-inch touchscreen, while Sport S and Sahara upgrade to a seven-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and SiriusXM. An available 8.4-inch system adds navigation with live traffic, a larger gauge display, and more connected features.
• Fuel efficiency: The turbocharged 2.0-liter four is rated at 22 mpg city and 24 mpg highway, while the V6 manual is rated at 17 mpg city and 23 mpg highway. The automatic V6 gains 1 mpg in city driving, and the review notes 20 mpg over 515 miles with the V6.

Which 2018 Jeep Wrangler trim should I buy?

The 2018 Jeep Wrangler is offered in 4 trim levels: Sport, Sport S, Sahara, Rubicon.

Here's the short version:

• Sport: This is the entry point, and it keeps the Wrangler formula simple with the basic touchscreen setup and the core off-road hardware. It makes sense if you want the lowest starting price and plan to add only the equipment you truly need.
• Sport S: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds the more usable seven-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and SiriusXM. If you want a more modern daily-driver experience without jumping too far up the price ladder, this is the trim to focus on.
• Sahara: This trim is the better choice if you want a more polished street-oriented Wrangler, with step rails, silver exterior accents, and a more upscale cabin feel. It also pairs with the available 8.4-inch infotainment system and other comfort-oriented equipment.
• Rubicon: This is the trim to choose if off-road capability is your priority, since it brings the beefier Rock-Trac setup, locking front and rear Dana 44 axles, and an electronically disconnecting front sway bar. It is the most trail-focused version in the lineup.

The safety content also notes that driver-assistance equipment is limited, with only a backup camera, rear parking sensors, and blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alerts mentioned.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Jeep Wrangler?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 34.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 7,833 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.20% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 72.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $21,345, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Jeep Wrangler's resale value?

The current average of $21,345 sits slightly below last year's $23,769.

That decline shows the market has moved in buyers’ favor, but it also suggests the Wrangler remains relatively resilient compared with many SUVs. For a future seller, that means you may not see dramatic depreciation if you buy carefully and keep the vehicle in good condition. Demand should stay supported by the Wrangler’s loyal following and strong identity, especially for well-kept examples with desirable equipment.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.54/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2018 Jeep Wrangler safe?

The 2018 Jeep Wrangler earns a three-star rating for driver and a two-star rating for passenger in the partially tested NHTSA frontal crash test, and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety rated a 2017 Wrangler Unlimited as Good in small and moderate overlap front crash tests but Marginal in side-impact tests.

It earns a 4/10 safety score from our experts.

The safety equipment list is limited to a backup camera, rear parking sensors, and blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alerts. The review also notes that no driver assists are available beyond those items, and that the Wrangler is structurally compromised compared with mainstream SUVs. A major shortcoming is the lack of head curtain airbags, which is a meaningful concern for used buyers.

Should I buy a 2018 Jeep Wrangler or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 34.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 72.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.20% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.54/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2018 model is notable for being thoroughly rebooted while still keeping the Wrangler’s familiar character, with improved performance, practicality, and technology.

The bottom line: If you want the most modern version of this generation’s Wrangler formula, the 2018 is the one to target because it brings the big redesign and meaningful usability upgrades. If you’re mainly shopping on price, a nearby year may still make sense, but the 2018 gives you the strongest mix of updated hardware, owner satisfaction, and market availability.
