How much does the 2020 Jeep Wrangler cost?

Prices have softened 13.08% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 8,201 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for comparison shopping.

Is the 2020 Jeep Wrangler a good car?

Generally — the 2020 Jeep Wrangler earns a 4.4/5 user rating and a 7.7/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Performance at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise the rugged design, off-road capability, and comfort touches like heated seats. The review summary also points to modern features as a plus, while noting common complaints about missing conveniences such as adaptive cruise control, plus fuel economy and noise.

That lines up with the Wrangler’s core use case: you’re buying it for trail credibility, character, and customization more than everyday refinement. The market also shows 32.0% good or great deals, so there’s some room to shop carefully.

Is the 2020 Jeep Wrangler reliable?

Owners rate it 4.4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a rugged, dependable personality, with many drivers describing the Wrangler as a vehicle they enjoy living with over time. The expert review also emphasizes that it’s built for a specific purpose and does that job well, which supports the idea that it can be a trustworthy long-term companion if you buy the right example.

If you’re shopping used, the biggest ownership risk is less about outright durability and more about how hard the vehicle was used off-road and how well it was maintained.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Jeep Wrangler?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 80.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because a Wrangler’s off-road appeal can mean more wear than the average SUV. Prioritize a thorough inspection of the suspension, tires, steering feel, and any signs of trail use or water exposure. It also helps to focus on trim-specific equipment so you know whether the features you want are actually present.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Sport is very bare-bones, with a 5-inch touchscreen, manual windows and locks, and little else. The Sport S adds power windows and locks, air conditioning, and remote keyless entry, while the Sahara brings a more upscale feel with body-color fender flares, 18-inch alloy wheels, bigger brakes, and more available comfort features. The Rubicon is the most off-road-focused choice, with a lifted suspension and big mud-terrain tires.
• Powertrain: You get a 3.6-liter V6 with 285 horsepower, a turbocharged 4-cylinder with 270 horsepower, and a new 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel with 260 horsepower and 442 pound-feet of torque. The diesel is the strongest low-speed performer and the best choice if you want extra torque.
• Safety package: Standard safety equipment includes airbags, electronic roll mitigation, and a backup camera. The base safety package adds rear parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-path detection, while the Advanced Safety Group adds adaptive cruise control and full-speed forward-collision warning.
• Infotainment: The Sport and Sport S use a 5-inch touchscreen with Bluetooth and USB. The Technology Package upgrades the Sport S to a 7-inch touchscreen with Uconnect, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. The Sahara and Rubicon come standard with a 7-inch screen, and an available 8.4-inch system adds navigation, HD Radio, real-time traffic and weather updates, and a WiFi hotspot.
• Fuel efficiency: The diesel returns 22 mpg city, 29 highway, and 25 combined. The most efficient gas version returns 21 mpg city, 22 highway, and 21 combined.

Which 2020 Jeep Wrangler trim should I buy?

The 2020 Jeep Wrangler is offered in 4 trim levels: Sport, Sport S, Sahara, and Rubicon.

Here's the short version:

• Sport: This is the most stripped-down version, and it makes sense only if you want the lowest entry point and don’t mind adding features later. The basic equipment is minimal, so it’s best for buyers who care most about the Wrangler shape and capability rather than comfort.
• Sport S: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds power windows and locks, air conditioning, and remote keyless entry. It also opens the door to the Technology Package and Cold Weather Group, which make the Wrangler much easier to live with.
• Sahara: This is the more comfort-oriented choice, with a more upscale look and more available convenience features. It’s a smart pick if you want a Wrangler that feels less bare-bones without going all the way to the most off-road-focused model.
• Rubicon: This is the one to buy if off-road performance is your priority. It gets the most serious trail hardware and a more capable setup overall, but it’s not the best value if you mainly drive on pavement.

The safety package is worth considering on lower trims, especially if you want blind-spot monitoring and forward-collision warning.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Jeep Wrangler?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to shop carefully but not so much that every listing is a bargain.

• Deal availability: 32.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 8,201 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.08% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 80.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $24,798, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Jeep Wrangler's resale value?

The current average of $24,798 sits slightly below last year's $28,530.

That softer pricing can help you as a buyer now, but it also means future sellers may face a more competitive market if prices continue to normalize. The Wrangler’s strong brand identity and loyal following should help support demand, especially for well-kept examples with desirable equipment. Trim, condition, and history will matter a lot when it comes time to resell.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Jeep Wrangler safe?

The 2020 Jeep Wrangler earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes airbags, electronic roll mitigation, and a backup camera. The base safety package adds rear parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-path detection, while the Advanced Safety Group adds adaptive cruise control and full-speed forward-collision warning. That said, the Wrangler’s awkward sightlines make the available driver-assistance features especially useful.

Should I buy a 2020 Jeep Wrangler or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 32.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 80.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.08% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2020 adds a new diesel engine that broadens the Wrangler Unlimited powertrain lineup.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $27,120, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $24,798 average.
• It adds a Wrangler 4xe plug-in hybrid and a Hemi V8 for more powertrain variety.

The bottom line: If you want the better value and a strong used-market selection, the 2020 is the easier recommendation. If you’re willing to pay more for newer powertrain choices, the 2021 is the better path.

How does the 2020 Jeep Wrangler compare to the 2021 Ford Bronco?

Expert Pros & Cons (per CarGurus review team)

2020 Jeep Wrangler:

• Cons: Poor fuel economy.

2021 Ford Bronco:

• Pros: Excellent off-road capability, Stylish design, Great ride quality.
• Cons: Poor fuel economy, Noisy, Stereo is lacking.

Our experts score the 2020 Jeep Wrangler 7.7/10 and the 2021 Ford Bronco 8/10.
