How much does the 2018 Jeep Wrangler cost?

Prices have softened 10.57% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 7,983 listings available, which gives you a healthy amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2018 Jeep Wrangler a good car?

Yes — the 2018 Jeep Wrangler earns a 4.5/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Form and function and Cost effectiveness.

Owners consistently praise its pep, handling, and iconic design, and many also like the drivability improvements and features such as remote start. The Wrangler’s appeal is strongest if you want a vehicle with a strong personality, serious off-road character, and a setup that feels more capable than conventional SUVs. Even with that niche focus, the market still shows 34.8% of listings as good or great deals.

Is the 2018 Jeep Wrangler reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a vehicle that feels dependable in the ways Wrangler shoppers care about most, with praise centered on its pep, handling, and overall driving enjoyment. The expert review also emphasizes that the Wrangler’s capability and character are central to its appeal, and it notes that used models tend to hold value well because demand stays strong.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about the badge and more about condition, since a hard-used Wrangler can hide wear from off-road use and everyday neglect.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Jeep Wrangler?

At 72.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a hands-on inspection of the body, undercarriage, and interior wear. Because this model is often used hard, you’ll want to focus on signs of trail damage, uneven panel fit, and any evidence that the vehicle has been modified or repaired poorly. A careful test drive should also help you judge whether the steering, brakes, and cabin feel match the seller’s description.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Sport uses a five-inch touchscreen, while the Sport S and Sahara upgrade to a seven-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and SiriusXM. The Sahara also adds step rails, silver-painted exterior accents, and 18-inch wheels, while the base Sport rides on smaller 17-inch rims.
• Powertrain: The standard 3.6-liter V6 makes 285 horsepower and is paired with a six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic. A turbocharged 2.0-liter four with eTorque is also mentioned, and it is described as the efficiency leader with 22 mpg city and 24 mpg highway.
• Safety package: No driver assists are available except a backup camera, rear parking sensors, and blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alerts. The Wrangler is also noted as the only new car on sale without head curtain airbags.
• Infotainment: The Sport uses a five-inch touchscreen, while the Sport S and Sahara get a seven-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and SiriusXM. The available 8.4-inch system adds navigation with live traffic, a seven-inch gauge display, voice controls, 4G WiFi, an onboard owner’s manual, and seven USB ports.
• Fuel efficiency: The V6 is rated at 17 mpg city and 23 mpg highway with the manual, and the automatic gains 1 mpg on the city cycle. The turbocharged 2.0-liter four is described as the best fuel-economy choice at 22 mpg city and 24 mpg highway.

Which 2018 Jeep Wrangler trim should I buy?

The 2018 Jeep Wrangler is offered in 4 trim levels: Sport, Sport S, Sahara, Rubicon.

Here's the short version:

• Sport: This is the entry point, and it gives you the Wrangler experience at the lowest price, but you give up the nicer infotainment and comfort upgrades found higher up the range. It makes sense if you want the most affordable path into the model and plan to keep things simple.
• Sport S: This is the best-value trim because it adds the seven-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and SiriusXM, which makes daily use much easier without jumping too far in price. If you want the most balanced mix of equipment and value, this is the trim to target.
• Sahara: This trim adds a more street-focused setup with step rails, silver-painted accents, and 18-inch wheels, plus the available 8.4-inch infotainment system and comfort features like heated seats and a heated steering wheel when equipped. It suits you best if you want a more polished Wrangler for everyday driving.
• Rubicon: This is the most trail-focused trim, with Rock-Trac four-wheel drive, locking front and rear Dana 44 axles, and an electronically disconnecting front sway bar. Choose it if off-road capability matters more to you than comfort or price.

The safety content also notes that no driver assists are available beyond a backup camera, rear parking sensors, and blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alerts.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Jeep Wrangler?

This is a moderate buyer’s market, so you can shop selectively without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 34.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 7,983 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.57% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 72.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $20,824, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Jeep Wrangler's resale value?

The current average of $20,824 sits slightly below last year's $23,286.

That drop suggests the market has cooled enough to help you buy more affordably now, but it also means a future seller may need to price carefully to stay competitive. Even so, the Wrangler’s strong demand and loyal following help support used values better than many mainstream SUVs. If you buy well and keep the vehicle in good condition, you should have a decent shot at holding onto value over time.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2018 Jeep Wrangler safe?

The Wrangler’s safety record is checkered, and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety rated a 2017 Wrangler Unlimited as Good in small and moderate overlap front crash tests but Marginal in side-impact tests. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration partially tested the 2018 JK for a frontal crash, where it scored three-star and two-star ratings for driver and passenger, respectively.

It earns a 4/10 safety score from our experts.

The safety content says no driver assists are available except a backup camera, rear parking sensors, and blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alerts. It also notes that the Wrangler is the only new car on sale without head curtain airbags, which is a major structural shortcoming for used buyers to keep in mind.

Should I buy a 2018 Jeep Wrangler or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 34.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 72.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.57% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2018 model was thoroughly rebooted while still keeping the Wrangler’s unmistakable identity, with improved performance, practicality, and technology.

The bottom line: Choose the 2018 if you want the updated Wrangler formula and you’re comfortable shopping carefully for condition and history. If you’re more price-sensitive, a nearby model year may still make sense, but the 2018 is the better pick when you want the rebooted design and can find a clean example at the right price.
