How much does the 2023 Jeep Wrangler cost?

Prices have softened 7.40% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 7,280 listings available, which suggests healthy inventory for shoppers comparing options.

Is the 2023 Jeep Wrangler a good car?

Yes — owners rate it 5/5, and the expert rating is 7.8/10. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Performance.

Owners consistently praise its off-road capability and fun driving experience, and the review summary also points to the Wrangler’s adventurous character and strong appeal for buyers who want something distinctive. The trade-offs are clear too: some owners mention high-speed handling concerns and pricing, while the expert review notes limited storage space and unimpressive on-road performance.

If you want a vehicle built around trail use and open-air personality, the Wrangler fits that use case well. If your daily driving leans heavily toward comfort and refinement, you should weigh those compromises carefully.

The market still shows 37.8% good or great deals, so there are worthwhile opportunities if you shop selectively.

Is the 2023 Jeep Wrangler reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to a vehicle that many drivers count on for its off-road capability and fun driving experience, with the kind of enthusiasm that often comes from a model that feels dependable in the ways its buyers care about most. The expert review also emphasizes the Wrangler’s rugged hardware and long-running identity, which supports its reputation for durability-minded ownership.

The main long-term ownership risk for used buyers is that the Wrangler’s rugged focus can come with compromises in comfort and everyday polish.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Jeep Wrangler?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any candidate, even if the listing looks clean at first glance. Prioritize a thorough inspection of the suspension, steering, brakes, and any off-road hardware, since this model is often used hard. Focus on overall condition and equipment fit, especially if you want a Wrangler that will work well both on pavement and on trails.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: Some popular trims like the Sport, High Altitude, Willys Sport, and Sahara don’t get locking differentials or meaty tires, so base-level equipment can leave you short on trail-ready hardware.
• Powertrain: You can choose from a V6, a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, a 3.0-liter diesel V6, a 6.4-liter V8, or a plug-in hybrid setup with two electric motors and a battery pack; efficiency ranges from 19 mpg combined to 49 mpge combined depending on configuration.
• Safety package: The standard equipment includes a rearview camera, electronic roll mitigation, and stability control. Blind-spot monitoring, forward collision warning, rear cross-traffic alert, and adaptive cruise control are standard only on the top 392 model, and lane-keeping assist is not offered.
• Infotainment: A 7-inch touchscreen is standard, with an 8.4-inch screen on the tester. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, and over-the-air updates apply only to the Uconnect system.

Which 2023 Jeep Wrangler trim should I buy?

The 2023 Jeep Wrangler is offered in 6 trim levels: Sport, High Altitude, Willys Sport, Sahara, Rubicon, Rubicon 392.

Here's the short version:

• Sport: This is the entry point, but it skips the more trail-focused hardware that makes the Wrangler shine, so it makes the most sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the lineup.
• High Altitude: This trim leans more toward style and comfort than serious off-road use, so it suits you if you want a more polished Wrangler experience.
• Willys Sport: This is still a value-oriented choice, but the review notes that some popular trims in this range do not get locking differentials or meaty tires.
• Sahara: This is another trim that emphasizes broader appeal over maximum trail hardware, making it better if you want Wrangler character without going all-in on off-road gear.
• Rubicon: This is the best-value trim for serious buyers because it adds front and rear differential lockers, a front disconnecting sway bar, rock rails, and skid plates.
• Rubicon 392: This is the performance-focused choice, with the most extreme powertrain and the most aggressive capability, but it also comes with the biggest compromises in price and on-road behavior.

Safety-package availability is limited on most trims, with several driver-assistance features reserved for the top 392 model or option packages.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Jeep Wrangler?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you should shop carefully and compare listings.

• Deal availability: 37.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 7,280 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.40% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 89.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $34,305, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Jeep Wrangler's resale value?

The current average of $34,305 sits slightly below last year's $37,048.

That softer pricing can help you as a buyer today, but it also means future sellers may need to be realistic about expectations if the market stays competitive. The Wrangler’s strong owner satisfaction and loyal following should help support demand, especially for well-kept examples with desirable equipment.

If you buy carefully and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you should have a better shot at holding value than with a less distinctive SUV.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Jeep Wrangler safe?

The 2023 Jeep Wrangler earns mixed crash results from IIHS and a four-star frontal crash rating and three-star rollover rating from NHTSA.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Jeep’s standard safety equipment includes a rearview camera, electronic roll mitigation, and stability control. Blind-spot monitoring, forward collision warning, rear cross-traffic alert, and adaptive cruise control are standard only on the top 392 model, while lane-keeping assist is not offered at all.

The safety picture is held back by the mixed IIHS results and the limited standard driver-assistance content on most trims.

Should I buy a 2023 Jeep Wrangler or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 37.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.40% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It keeps the Wrangler’s rugged identity while preserving its trail-first character.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $29,266, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $34,305 average.
• It emphasizes retro styling, open-air versatility, and true off-road hardware.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $35,721, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $34,305 average.
• It adds a plug-in hybrid option and a refresh focused on technology, safety, and refinement.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest balance of current pricing, inventory, and owner satisfaction, the 2023 is the primary path to consider. If your budget is tighter, the 2022 can deliver much of the same Wrangler character for less money.
