CarGurus Analysis: 2018 GMC Yukon

Summary
With 1,660 currently listed for sale and an average price of $25,094.00, 32.6% of 2018 GMC Yukons for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2018 GMC Yukon 4.29 / 5 stars.

Why it stands out
The 2018 GMC Yukon stands out as a full-size SUV that blends roominess, comfort, and a premium feel with a relatively understated design. It is described as roomy and well-appointed, with premium amenities, plush materials, and modern technology, while still keeping its styling restrained inside and out. For buyers who want a large family hauler that feels substantial without being flashy, that combination is a major part of its appeal.
For this model year, the Yukon also benefits from the fourth generation’s broader move toward more modern convenience and safety features. The guide notes that the 2018 model year was considered a mid-life refresh, with LED daytime running lights for all trims and a redesigned grille and 10-speed automatic transmission on the Denali. It also sits in a generation that added Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with more safety technology over time. At the same time, the Yukon’s drawbacks remain familiar: poor fuel economy, uncomfortable seats, and interior materials that can feel cheap. Even so, the 2018 model is presented as a solid used buy, with improving reliability and owner satisfaction and pricing that makes it accessible relative to newer full-size SUVs.

Great vehicle. Tons of room for my family. Very little options because it’s a base model. But felt safer being a little higher up more like a truck.

The 2018 GMC Denali is an amazing Luxury SUV. It is elegant, roomy and entertaining for the family when going on long trips. It has plenty of power with the 6.2liter V-8 and the 10 speed automatic transmission saves gas. Whether your towing a boat or taking a family trip this SUV will make sure you get there with. Your loved ones and in style! I am happy with this vehicle and I am sure anyone that purchases one will be happy to.

Traded in our Buick Enclave for a 2018 Yukon. Car is very nice and solid. As a bad back kind of guy, I needed something extremely comfortable. The 2018 GMC Yukon filled the bill. Gas mileage is 22.4 a great increase from the Buicks 14. Has enough bells and whistles to satisfy my needs.

Is the 2018 GMC Yukon a good car?
Generally — the 4.29/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction for this model year. Owners consistently praise the Yukon’s comfort, spaciousness, and luxurious feel, and many also note the improvement in gas mileage compared with previous models.
That lines up with the Yukon’s appeal as a roomy, well-appointed full-size SUV with a premium feel and modern convenience features. If you want a large family hauler that feels substantial without being flashy, this model year fits that use case well.
With 28.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively without feeling rushed.
Is the 2018 GMC Yukon reliable?
Owners rate it 4.29/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback also points to a vehicle that many drivers find dependable and trouble-free in everyday use, with comfort and space standing out as recurring strengths. That said, some owners mention condition-related concerns in specific cases, so the best used examples are the ones with clean maintenance records and careful prior ownership.
For long-term ownership, your risk is less about the model’s overall appeal and more about buying a poorly maintained example.
What should I look for when buying a used 2018 GMC Yukon?
At 64.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any reported damage was minor or more serious. After that, prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection so you can evaluate body condition, repair quality, and signs of wear that may not show up in the listing photos.
Because this SUV is often bought for family duty and long-term use, focus on overall condition, maintenance consistency, and how well the interior and mechanical components have been cared for.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 GMC Yukon?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile options.
- Deal availability: 28.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 1,680 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 10.98% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 64.8% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $25,090.44, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2018 GMC Yukon's resale value?
The current average of $25,117 sits slightly below last year's $28,213.
That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can help you buy more affordably now but may also limit short-term upside if you plan to resell soon. If you purchase at a strong price and keep the vehicle in clean condition, you can help protect your future resale position.
Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.29/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2018 GMC Yukon or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2018 if:
- 28.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 64.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 10.98% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.29/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, owner satisfaction, and current market availability, the 2018 is the primary year to target. It gives you a strong mix of comfort and value without pushing you into newer-model pricing. If you are especially price-sensitive, you can widen your search to nearby years, but the 2018 stands out as a sensible starting point for a used full-size SUV shopper.
