Why it stands out
The 2018 Dodge Durango stands out as a three-row crossover that leans hard into performance while still adding useful everyday tech. A new SRT trim gives it a more aggressive edge, and the model’s 475 hp figure underscores that athletic focus. At the same time, Dodge brought Android Auto and Apple CarPlay to the Durango, making this a more modern and connected choice than before.
It also gained a standard reversing camera and a new 7-inch touchscreen, both of which improve day-to-day usability. That combination of muscle, family-friendly seating, and updated infotainment makes the 2018 Durango appealing to buyers who want space and style without giving up a performance-oriented character.

I LOVE everything about this suv. I needed something with 3 rows because kids, but I didn’t want to settle for a “mom” van. The dvd entertainment is amazing, especially for the kids. I can drive peacefully and even have actual conversations with my husband instead of getting interrupted by my kids 5 times in a minute, because they’re busy watching movies. The heated seats and steering wheel is another plus. It’s drives amazing. I am seriously in love with my Dodge Durango r/t. I wouldn’t change a thing about it

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Dodge Durango?
At 63.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing has higher mileage or visible wear. Focus on condition, maintenance records, and whether the equipment level matches what you want, since some lower trims are described as more basic than others.
Key things to evaluate:

- Powertrain: The lineup starts with a 293-hp V6 that returns 19 mpg city and 26 highway and can tow 6,200 pounds. A 5.7-liter V8 brings 360 hp, 390 lb-ft, 14 mpg city and 22 highway, plus 7,400-pound towing, while the 6.4-liter V8 delivers 475 hp, 470 lb-ft, 13 mpg city and 19 highway, and 8,700-pound towing.

The Safety/Security & Convenience Group adds auto high beams with auto leveling, blind-spot monitor with cross-path alert, low-beam HIDs, rain-sensing wipers, and a power steering column.
- Infotainment: The Durango comes with a standard 7-inch touchscreen, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and a reversing camera. Higher trims can add an 8.4-inch touchscreen, HD Radio, a subwoofer, and other upgrades.
- Fuel efficiency: The V6 returns 19 mpg city and 26 highway, the 5.7-liter V8 returns 14 mpg city and 22 highway, and the 6.4-liter V8 returns 13 mpg city and 19 highway.
Which 2018 Dodge Durango trim should I buy?
The 2018 Dodge Durango is offered in 6 trim levels: SXT, SXT Plus, GT, Citadel, R/T, SRT.
Here's the short version:
- SXT: This is the entry point, but it still gives you the core Durango formula: 7-passenger seating, a 7-inch touchscreen, reversing camera, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and strong V6 towing. It makes sense if you want the lowest starting price and can live without the extra comfort and convenience features.
- SXT Plus: This trim adds an 8-way power driver’s seat with 4-way lumbar, roof rails, and rear park assist. It’s a sensible step up if you want a little more everyday convenience without jumping too far in price.
- GT: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds power liftgate, remote start, leather upholstery, heated front and second-row seats, heated steering wheel, driver memory settings, and rear parking sensors. It’s the sweet spot if you want the Durango to feel properly equipped.
- Citadel: This trim leans into luxury with upgraded leather, ventilated front seats, a sunroof, front parking sensors, a power steering column, an upgraded 8.4-inch infotainment system, and a 9-speaker stereo with HD Radio and a subwoofer. Choose it if comfort and upscale features matter more than value.
- R/T: This is the performance-oriented choice, with a sport suspension, upgraded steering, LED fog lights, best-in-class towing, and the 5.7-liter V8. It suits you if you want the Durango’s muscle-first personality.
- SRT: This is the top performance trim, with the 6.4-liter V8, adaptive suspension, sport steering tune, electronic limited-slip differential, and SRT Performance Pages. It’s the one to buy if you want the most aggressive Durango experience.
The Technology package is available on the Citadel and R/T, and it can also be added to the GT for extra cost.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Dodge Durango?

- Deal availability: 31.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 1,685 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 10.42% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 63.2% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $17,822, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2018 Dodge Durango's resale value?
The current average of $17,822 sits slightly below last year's $19,895.
That decline suggests the market has become more favorable for buyers, but it also means a future seller may need to price carefully to stay competitive. If you buy at today’s lower average, you may have less downside risk than someone who paid closer to last year’s level. Strong demand for well-equipped, well-kept examples should help support values, especially for trims with desirable features and strong performance appeal.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.67/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2018 Dodge Durango safe?
The 2018 Dodge Durango earns four-star ratings in frontal crash and rollover, and five-star ratings in all other NHTSA tests, while independent evaluations gave it top ratings in all tests.
It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.
Standard safety equipment includes four-wheel antilock discs, stability control, traction control, trailer sway control, and a full suite of airbags. The available Technology package adds adaptive cruise with auto braking and brake assist, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-path alert, full-speed forward-collision warning, and lane-departure warning. Some of those advanced systems are not standard on every trim, so you should check carefully before assuming a given listing has them.
Should I buy a 2018 Dodge Durango or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2018 if:
- 31.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 63.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 10.42% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.67/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- It adds Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, a standard reversing camera, and a new 7-inch touchscreen.
Consider the 2017 if:
- At $14,845, the 2017 costs less than the current year's $17,822 average.
- It emphasizes family-friendly space and utility with room for up to 7 passengers and strong towing.
The 2018 is the better pick if you want the newer tech and a more modern daily-driving experience. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2017 is the value play, especially if you can find one in strong condition with the equipment you want.
