CarGurus Analysis: 2018 BMW 7 Series

Summary
With 513 currently listed for sale and an average price of $23,211, 31.4% of 2018 BMW 7 Series models for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2018 BMW 7 Series 4.31 / 5 stars.
59.5% of 2018 BMW 7 Series models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2018 BMW 7 Series stands out as a flagship full-size luxury sedan that blends advanced technology with a sporty character. BMW has long positioned the 7 Series at the cutting edge of automotive tech, and this generation continues that tradition with features such as gesture controls, touch-screen capability, a standard rear-view camera, parking sensors, ambient lighting, and an upgraded iDrive system with a voice assistant. It also offers a comfortable but sporty ride and handling, along with excellent rear passenger room, which helps explain its appeal to buyers looking for a large sedan that still feels driver-focused.
Powertrain variety is another defining trait. For this generation, BMW offered a 325hp 3.0-liter turbo inline-six, a 450hp 4.4-liter turbo V8, a plug-in hybrid with a combined 325hp, and a diesel option in the U.S. The lineup also included a plug-in hybrid, making this generation notable for offering electrified power alongside traditional engines. Owners commonly praise the 2018 BMW 7 Series for its powerful engine, luxurious interior, smooth ride, and strong performance, though concerns about repair costs, potential engine issues, expensive options, and depreciation are part of the ownership picture.

The 2018 BMW 750i is an amazing piece of machinery. We tried many many luxury vehicles and NONE had the luxury and performance except maybe Mercedes (but the cost of a Mercedes vs BMW is about $20K more for a 3-4 year old model equippied similiarly) So, the value of the flagship BMW is AMAZING!!!!! HOWEVER, be sure to buy certified pre-owned and get the extended warranty out to 7 years. You do not want to pay those repair bills. You Definitely need to be protected.

Is the 2018 BMW 7 Series a good car?
Generally — the 4.31/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise the powerful engine, luxurious interior, and smooth ride, and many also like the value relative to similar luxury vehicles. In practical terms, that makes this a strong fit if you want a flagship sedan that feels upscale, comfortable, and still engaging to drive. With 30.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2018 BMW 7 Series reliable?
Owners rate it 4.31/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback also leans toward dependable day-to-day enjoyment, with repeated praise for the car’s smooth operation and strong performance. At the same time, some owners mention engine concerns and the need to plan for repair costs, which is a reminder that long-term ownership can be expensive if you buy a poorly maintained example. For used buyers, that means condition and service history matter a lot more than mileage alone.
What should I look for when buying a used 2018 BMW 7 Series?
At 58.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. After that, prioritize a pre-purchase inspection so you can check for signs of deferred maintenance, uneven wear, or expensive electronic issues. Because this is a luxury flagship, you should focus on overall condition and service records, not just the asking price.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 BMW 7 Series?

What is the 2018 BMW 7 Series's resale value?
The current average of $23,131 sits slightly below last year's $25,357.
That decline suggests the market has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right price today. If you keep the car in strong condition and maintain it well, you may be better positioned to limit the hit from further value loss. The current pricing also means your resale outcome will depend heavily on mileage, condition, and service history when it is time to sell.
Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.31/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2018 BMW 7 Series or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2018 if:
- 30.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 58.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 8.78% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.31/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
The bottom line: The 2018 is a smart choice if you want a flagship luxury sedan with strong owner approval and a softer price than last year. If you are especially price-sensitive, you may want to compare nearby years and focus on the cleanest, best-documented example rather than chasing the lowest sticker price.
