Is the 2016 BMW 7 Series a good car?

Yes — the 2016 BMW 7 Series earns a 4.75/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise the powerful engine, luxurious interior, and advanced technology, and many also highlight the smooth driving experience and comfort on long trips. If you want a full-size luxury sedan that emphasizes performance and upscale features, this model year fits that use case well. 34.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so there is still some market opportunity if you shop carefully.

Is the 2016 BMW 7 Series reliable?

Owners rate it 4.75/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The user feedback points to a car that feels dependable in daily use, with owners repeatedly calling out its smooth, comfortable, and trouble-free driving character. That kind of long-term praise matters most on a used luxury sedan, where you want confidence that the car can still deliver the refined experience it was built for. For used buyers, the main ownership risk is less about the driving experience and more about making sure the specific car has been maintained well.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 BMW 7 Series?

At 60.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with accident records. After that, prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially on a luxury sedan where repairs can be costly if something has been overlooked. Focus on overall condition, maintenance evidence, and whether the car’s features and electronics all work as expected.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 BMW 7 Series?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you stay disciplined.

• Deal availability: 34.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 411 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.44% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 60.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $17,795, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 BMW 7 Series's resale value?

The current average of $17,820 sits slightly below last year's $19,462.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy more confidently now but may also limit upside if you plan to resell soon. For a future seller, the key takeaway is that this model year is already priced in line with softer demand, so condition and documentation will matter even more when it is time to list it again. Well-kept examples should still attract interest from shoppers who want a luxury flagship at a lower entry price.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.75/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 BMW 7 Series or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 34.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 60.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.44% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.75/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2016 is a strong choice if you want the newer-feeling version of this flagship sedan and you value its mix of luxury, technology, and owner satisfaction. If your priority is stretching your budget further, a nearby year with a lower average price may be worth considering, but you should still focus first on condition, accident history, and maintenance records rather than year alone.
