For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure the specific car you choose has been maintained well and hasn’t accumulated hidden wear.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Audi A6?

At 64.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with prior damage. After that, prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially on the body, electronics, and interior condition. Because this model is known for its upscale cabin and technology, you’ll want to focus on how well those features still work and whether the car shows signs of neglect.

What is the 2018 Audi A6's resale value?

The current average of $16,229 sits slightly below last year's $17,690.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can make resale timing more important if you plan to sell later. If you buy at a strong price now and keep the car in good condition, you may be better positioned to limit depreciation pressure. The model’s strong owner satisfaction can also help support demand when it’s time to list it again.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Audi A6 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 36.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 64.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.26% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2019 if:

• At $21,169, the 2019 costs more than the current year's $16,229 average.
• It brings a redesigned cabin with a new MMI approach and more advanced driver-assistance tech.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2018 is the primary path because it combines a lower average price with strong owner satisfaction. If you’re willing to spend more for a newer redesign and more advanced tech, the 2019 is the better secondary path.
