Is the 2017 Toyota Sienna a good car?

That makes it a strong fit if you want a practical minivan for people-moving and cargo-hauling duties. With 31.1% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have room to shop selectively.

Is the 2017 Toyota Sienna reliable?

Owners rate it 4.9/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The user feedback highlights reliability alongside comfort and versatility, which is exactly what you want if you plan to keep a used minivan for years. Even so, you should weigh the model’s known long-term ownership risks carefully, especially if you’re shopping higher-mileage examples.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Toyota Sienna?

At 54.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

Start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from those with accident records. Then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, with extra attention to bodywork, sliding doors, and overall cabin condition. Because this model is often bought for family duty, you should also focus on wear items that reflect heavy daily use.

What is the 2017 Toyota Sienna's resale value?

The current average of $19,015 sits slightly below last year's $19,630.

That softer pricing can help you buy more carefully now, but it also means future resale gains may be limited if the market stays subdued. If you’re planning to sell later, condition and documentation will matter a lot, because well-kept examples tend to stand out when prices are drifting lower. Strong owner satisfaction can help support demand over time, especially for a family vehicle with a loyal audience.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Toyota Sienna or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 31.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 54.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.13% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $17,630, the 2016 costs less than the current year's $19,015 average.
• It offers strong tech value and broad family practicality.

Consider the 2018 if:

• At $21,470, the 2018 costs more than the current year's $19,015 average.
• It leans harder into all-wheel-drive appeal for family buyers.

The bottom line: The 2017 is the best all-around pick if you want a well-liked, well-equipped minivan and are comfortable shopping carefully for condition. If price is your top priority, the 2016 is the better value path; if you want to spend more for the added appeal of the next year, the 2018 is the alternative to compare.
