How much does the 2017 Toyota Prius cost?

Prices are up 3.91% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.

There are 545 listings available, which gives you a solid pool to compare prices and conditions.

Is the 2017 Toyota Prius a good car?

Yes — the 2017 Toyota Prius earns a 5/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction.

Drivers consistently praise its amazing gas mileage, smooth ride, and great value, and many also appreciate the abundance of features. That lines up well with the model’s appeal as a daily commuter, especially if you want a hybrid that feels more polished than earlier Priuses and offers a well-equipped cabin for the class.

With 31.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have room to shop selectively while looking for the right combination of price and condition.

Is the 2017 Toyota Prius reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The user feedback points to a car that feels dependable in everyday use, with drivers highlighting its smooth ride and strong value over time. The model-year overview also emphasizes the Prius’s reputation for durability, which supports its appeal if you want a hybrid you can count on for regular commuting.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure the specific car has been maintained properly and checked for any recall-related history.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Toyota Prius?

At 53.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with accident records. After that, prioritize a thorough inspection of body panels, alignment, and signs of uneven wear, since condition matters as much as mileage on a used hybrid.

It also makes sense to focus on maintenance records and recall completion, because a well-documented car is the safer bet for long-term ownership.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Toyota Prius?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without feeling rushed.

• Deal availability: 31.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 545 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 3.91% year-over-year.
• Clean inventory: 53.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $15,147, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Toyota Prius's resale value?

The current average of $16,684 sits slightly above last year's $16,057.

That upward move suggests the market still values this model year, which can help support resale strength if you buy well and keep the car in good condition. The relatively tight spread between the year-round low and high also suggests pricing is active, so clean, well-maintained examples should remain easier to move later.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Toyota Prius or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 31.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 53.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices are up 3.91% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $15,238, the 2016 costs less than the current year's $16,684 average.
• It keeps the Prius’s recognizable hybrid identity while carrying forward the core appeal that made it popular.

The bottom line: If you want the stronger all-around choice, the 2017 is the better target because it combines solid owner satisfaction with a healthy used-car market and updated fourth-generation appeal. If your priority is saving money upfront, the 2016 is the more budget-friendly path and still delivers the Prius formula buyers want.
