Why it stands out
The 2017 Subaru Impreza is a strong contender in the compact car segment, offering a unique blend of practicality and performance that appeals to a broad range of buyers. Notable for its standard all-wheel drive, the Impreza provides enhanced stability and control in various driving conditions, setting it apart from many competitors that lack this essential feature. The car’s redesigned exterior gives it a modern and refined look, while the spacious interior can accommodate up to 55.3 cubic feet of cargo, making it a practical choice for daily use or road trips.
Owners appreciate the Impreza for its reliability, as evidenced by its high owner loyalty rates. The affordable technology, such as standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, enhances the driving experience without breaking the bank. Despite the absence of a turbocharged engine option, the 2.0-liter "boxer" engine still delivers commendable fuel economy, making the Impreza an economical choice for budget-conscious buyers. It’s important to note, however, that while the Impreza excels in many areas, it may not provide the same level of refinement as some rivals in terms of interior materials and quietness.

My wife and I were both civic owners for 13+ years each. She got a Crosstrek a few years back, which has been really good to us so far. So when my civic started overstaying its welcome I decided to include subaru in my search. Also test drove a honda civic and toyota corolla. While the Subaru doest exactly have the most potent acceleration- slowest of this group - it is the most fun to drive, in my opinion. The sport trim has a differently-tuned suspension and a tighter steering ratio. Combine these features with the all wheel drive and what you get is a car that you just want to drive. Subaru also got their act together with the interior. The visibility on the subaru is great (corolla is good too). However, the civics rear visibility was lacking because of the cars aggressively sloped rear end. Plus, the subaru just feels way more solidly built than the corolla or civic.

Its hard to see the oil pressure and the engine status of the car. This may be obvious to the car computer. But this is a user experience.
