CarGurus Analysis: 2017 Porsche 911

Summary
With 530 currently listed for sale and an average price of $124,200.00, 28.1% of 2017 Porsche 911s for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2017 Porsche 911 4.67 / 5 stars.
82.8% of 2017 Porsche 911 models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2017 Porsche 911 stands out because it sits at the point where the model entered its turbo era. In this year, almost all versions added a turbocharger for improved performance and efficiency, while the base Carrera’s output rose to 370hp, the Carrera S to 420hp, and the GTS to 450hp. The Turbo and Turbo S also climbed to 540hp and 580hp, respectively. Porsche paired that with a new infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, giving the car a more modern feel without losing the 911’s familiar character.
What makes the 2017 model especially appealing is that it still delivers the classic 911 formula in a more usable package. The buying guide describes the 911’s rear-engine layout as giving it a rear weight bias and a tendency toward oversteer if the driver lifts off the throttle in a fast corner, but also notes that advances in engineering and technology made it more balanced and manageable. That combination helps explain why the 911 can work as both a comfortable touring car and a serious performance machine. Owners also praise its power, road handling, exterior design, and fit and finish.
There are tradeoffs, though. The buying guide notes that the 911 is pricey new or used, has limited passenger and cargo space, and is expensive to maintain. Even so, the 2017 Porsche 911 remains distinctive because it blends iconic styling, a unique engine layout, strong performance, and enough modern technology to broaden its appeal without diluting what makes it a 911.

Beautiful color. Nice interior. Needs a new top. Lots of miles but not dealbreaker.

This 911 C4S is a beauty! Quintessential Porsche with semi-modern features. Value is not good, more buyers would be interested and make a deal for $95,000-100,000. Needs to show better history of maintenance and any accidents. Dealer should allow buyer to have independent mechanic review. Dr Dennis Smith

The overview also points to a more modern infotainment setup with Apple CarPlay, which helps the car feel more usable day to day while keeping its classic character. The review summary also points to a driving experience that feels dependable in the ways owners care about most: strong performance, confident road handling, and a package that many buyers continue to enjoy over time. That kind of feedback suggests the car delivers the sort of trouble-free ownership experience shoppers hope for in a high-end sports car. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about whether the car is desirable and more about making sure the specific example has been cared for properly.
What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Porsche 911?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 83.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should still run a history report on every car you consider, even if the listing looks clean at first glance. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection so you can check for wear, maintenance gaps, and any signs that the car has been driven hard or neglected. Focus especially on overall condition, because a high-performance used car can look great online while still hiding expensive issues underneath.

That upward move suggests the market continues to place strong value on this model year, which can help support resale strength if you buy well and keep the car in good condition. The pricing trend also shows that demand has remained healthy enough to push values higher rather than soften. For you, that means a clean, well-kept example may hold appeal better than many other used sports cars.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.67/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2017 Porsche 911 or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

- Accident-free inventory is solid at 83.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices are up 6.95% year-over-year.

The bottom line: If you want the turbo-era 911 with strong owner satisfaction, modernized tech, and a market that still shows healthy demand, the 2017 is the primary year to target. If your priority is stretching your budget, you may want to compare nearby years and focus on the best-condition car you can find rather than chasing a specific badge year.
