• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.01% compared with last year.

What is the 2017 Mazda CX-9's resale value?

The current average of $15,015 sits slightly below last year's $15,642.

That softer pricing suggests the market has become a bit more buyer-friendly, which can work against short-term resale gains if you plan to sell soon. On the other hand, a lower entry price can help you preserve value better if you buy carefully and avoid overpaying. The CX-9’s premium-feeling appeal and strong owner satisfaction can help support demand when it is time to resell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Mazda CX-9 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 31.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 62.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.01% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $12,987, the 2016 costs less than the current year's $15,015 average.
• It offers a more upscale feel with strong value and a quieter cabin.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2017 if you want the stronger current-market balance of price, inventory, and owner satisfaction. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2016 is the better secondary path, especially if you find one in excellent condition.
