Is the 2017 Lincoln Navigator reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owners describe it as dependable in everyday use, with praise centered on a smooth, trouble-free-feeling ownership experience and strong long-term appeal. The same feedback also points to a few minor used-car concerns, including running boards and the backup camera. For you, that means the core ownership experience looks reassuring, but a careful pre-purchase inspection still matters because small age-related issues can affect a luxury SUV like this.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Lincoln Navigator?

At 66.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from ones with prior damage. Then prioritize a thorough inspection of the running boards, backup camera, and other convenience features that owners have flagged. Because this is a large luxury SUV, you should also focus on overall condition and maintenance quality, not just mileage.

If you find a listing below $15,841, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Lincoln Navigator's resale value?

The current average of $15,997 sits slightly below last year's $17,610.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can limit how much further depreciation you may face in the near term. If you buy well, you may be able to preserve value better than someone who pays near the top of the range. Strong condition and a clean history should matter a lot if you plan to resell later.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Lincoln Navigator or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 33.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 66.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.16% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2018 if:

• At $25,434, the 2018 costs more than the current year's $15,997 average.
• It brings a sharper redesign with a more distinctive, modern look.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2017 is the stronger starting point because it combines a lower average price with solid owner satisfaction. If you’re willing to spend more for a newer-feeling design and a more upscale presence, the 2018 is the better upgrade path. For price-sensitive buyers, the 2017 is the practical choice; for shoppers prioritizing style and a newer look, the 2018 is worth the stretch.
