CarGurus Analysis: 2017 Lincoln MKZ
overall

Summary
With 428 currently listed for sale and an average price of $13,665.00, 29.0% of 2017 Lincoln MKZs for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2017 Lincoln MKZ 4.77 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7.33 / 10.
58.9% of 2017 MKZ models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2017 Lincoln MKZ stands out as a redesigned take on Lincoln’s entry-level luxury sedan, with a new front end, a new engine, and a long list of standard equipment. It was also given an exclusive new 3.0-liter V6 with class-leading power, which helps explain why this model was positioned as a more serious performance and luxury contender than before. The available owner feedback lines up with that mission, pointing to a smooth ride, strong performance, and a generous feature set for the money.
What makes the 2017 Lincoln MKZ appealing is the way it tries to deliver more than many rivals without asking buyers to add as much equipment. The summary says its standards would cost more from the competition, and it also notes the new Sync 3 infotainment system as a major upgrade over the outgoing version. At the same time, the car’s appeal is not universal: owner comments suggest some shoppers may miss advanced driver-assistance features such as adaptive cruise control and blind spot monitoring.

Beautiful inside and out. Comfortable and quite ride. Tremendous power and pickup. Feather touch gas pedal and powerful V-6 sends you flying down the road. This roomy AWD sedan handles like a sports car. Lots of leg room even for passengers in the back. Navigation system with Bluetooth that lets you connect your cell for handsfree calling. Loaded with safety features with a 5-star safety rating. Blind spot detection, brake assist, lane assist, collision avoidance system, backup camera, and parking assist. Auto dim for the side and rearview mirrors. Memory for three driver seat and mirror settings.

I ended up purchasing this vehicle and it’s great. Very luxurious and fun to drive. The 3.0 V6 is worth the extra money over the 2.0 I4. Has a lot of nice features and super comfortable. Also is a great deal. I love my MKZ and love driving it

This is a beautiful car inside and out. It has every extra feature you could possibly want and more. It is a great highway road trip car, the level of comfort is superior from the heated and ventilated seats to the spaciousness provided in every zone. The ride is so smooth you dont even realize youre in a car. The power under the hood is also surprising. It may not look like it but you could keep up with or even surpass many sports cars. Also, I hit a deer and the car held up remarkably well, although I do not recommend doing so in yours should you buy one. Overall 10/10.

Yes — the 2017 Lincoln MKZ earns a 4.77/5 user rating and a 7.33/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Performance and Safety.
Owners consistently praise its luxury, comfort, and value for money, along with the smooth ride and strong performance. The overview also points to a generous feature set and a more serious luxury-and-performance mission than before, which fits the way this sedan is positioned for shoppers who want more equipment without stretching the budget as far as some rivals.

Is the 2017 Lincoln MKZ reliable?
Owners rate it 4.77/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback points to a car that feels dependable and trouble-free in day-to-day use, with buyers repeatedly highlighting the comfort and value they expect to keep enjoying over time. The expert evaluation also emphasizes a smooth, well-sorted driving experience and a strong overall package, which supports the idea that this is a car you can count on for regular use.
Lincoln also includes a few ownership-friendly touches, including a system that helps you monitor and limit use for a second driver.
For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about the car’s core character and more about whether a specific example has been maintained well and equipped the way you want.
What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Lincoln MKZ?
At 59.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has had any prior damage or if the seller’s photos and description leave gaps. Focus on condition details that matter in a luxury sedan: interior wear, electronics, ride quality, and whether the equipment you expect is actually present.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base setup includes an adaptive suspension, adaptive xenon headlights with LED tail lights, keyless entry and ignition, dual-zone automatic climate control, rear parking sensors, heated mirrors, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and an 8-inch touchscreen with Sync 3. Higher trims add leather upholstery, power adjustments, ambient lighting, rear USB ports, a 110-volt outlet, ventilated front seats, and more upscale audio and lighting equipment.
- Powertrain: You can shop the turbocharged 2.0-liter engine or the bi-turbo 3.0-liter V6. The 2.0-liter is described as smooth and fun to drive, while the V6 brings much stronger acceleration and, in AWD form, class-leading power.
- Safety package: Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is part of the safety and tech story here, and the available technology package adds adaptive cruise control, pre-collision with pedestrian detection, lane-keep assist, auto-park, front sensors, and rain-sensing wipers with de-ice capability. Some of those features are not standard on every trim.
- Infotainment: Sync 3 uses an 8-inch touchscreen and supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The system is described as fast, intuitive, and a major upgrade over the previous setup.
- Fuel efficiency: The 2.0-liter engine returns 24 mpg combined in FWD form and 23 mpg combined with AWD. The 3.0-liter V6 is rated at 21 mpg combined in FWD form and 20 mpg combined with AWD. The hybrid is rated at 40 mpg combined.
Which 2017 Lincoln MKZ trim should I buy?
The 2017 Lincoln MKZ is offered in 4 trim levels: Premiere, Select, Reserve, Black Label.
Here's the short version:
- Premiere: This is the entry point, but it still brings a strong equipment list, including the adaptive suspension, Sync 3 on an 8-inch touchscreen, dual-zone climate control, and rear parking sensors. It makes sense if you want the MKZ experience at the lowest starting price.
- Select: This is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it adds leather upholstery, more seat and steering-wheel adjustment, ambient lighting, rear USB ports, and a 110-volt outlet. It also opens the door to the most useful option packages, including blind-spot monitoring and the broader technology upgrades.
- Reserve: This trim adds more luxury touches, including 19-inch alloys, ventilated front seats, and the features from the Select Plus Package. It’s the right pick if you want a more upscale feel without jumping all the way to the top-tier special edition.
- Black Label: This is the most exclusive version, with upgraded leather and wood trim and theme-based customization. It suits you if you want the most distinctive and premium MKZ presentation.
The safety and tech packages are especially worth considering on the Select and Reserve trims, since some of the most desirable driver-assistance features are not standard.

What is the 2017 Lincoln MKZ's resale value?
The current average of $13,622 sits slightly below last year's $13,982.
That softer pricing suggests the model has become a more approachable used buy, but it also means future sellers may need to stay realistic on asking price if the market remains competitive. If you buy well now, you may benefit from the current discounting, but your eventual resale will still depend heavily on condition, mileage, and equipment.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.77/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2017 Lincoln MKZ safe?
It earns a five-star overall safety rating from both NHTSA and IIHS, though both organizations also gave it second-best scores in frontal-impact protection and small-overlap frontal-offset testing.
It earns a 8/10 safety score from our experts.
The MKZ can be equipped with blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, pre-collision with pedestrian detection, lane-keep assist, auto-park, front sensors, and rain-sensing wipers with de-ice capability. It also includes MyKey, which lets you monitor and limit use for a second driver.
One caveat is that some of the most desirable driver-assistance features are not standard across the lineup, so you should verify the exact equipment on any used example you’re considering.
Should I buy a 2017 Lincoln MKZ or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2017 if:
- 30.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 59.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 2.58% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.77/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- It brings a redesigned front end, an exclusive 3.0-liter V6 with class-leading power, and the upgraded Sync 3 infotainment system.
The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of value, comfort, and modern features, the 2017 is the one to target first. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you can still shop aggressively and focus on well-kept examples with the equipment you want, since the market currently gives you room to negotiate.
