How much does the 2017 Lexus IS cost?

Is the 2017 Lexus IS a good car?

Yes — 4.5/5 is a strong user rating for the 2017 Lexus IS, and the model’s overview backs that up with a compact luxury sports sedan formula that emphasizes driving feel and premium equipment. You also get a revised front and rear design, a larger infotainment system, a redesigned center console, and standard Lexus Safety System+ for added everyday confidence. It is especially appealing if you want a driver-focused cabin and a sporty feel in a small luxury sedan, though the tight back seat limits family practicality. 29.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2017 Lexus IS reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2017 Lexus IS is presented as a premium compact sedan with a strong emphasis on driving feel and a well-equipped cabin, which tends to matter when you plan to keep a car for years. Its standard safety suite and driver-focused layout add to its appeal for used buyers who want a refined daily driver. For long-term ownership, your biggest risk is buying a poorly maintained example, so condition and service history should matter as much as the badge.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Lexus IS?

At 41.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection so you can confirm the car’s structural and mechanical condition. Focus on signs of prior bodywork, uneven panel gaps, interior wear, and any issues with the infotainment or safety systems. Because this model is meant to feel sporty and premium, you want one that still feels tight, clean, and well cared for.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Lexus IS?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right car.

• Deal availability: 29.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 577 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.90% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 41.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $20,095, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Lexus IS's resale value?

The current average of $20,259 sits slightly below last year's $21,081.

That tells you the market has eased, which can help you as a buyer now but may temper short-term resale upside if you plan to sell soon. If you buy at a strong price and keep the car in clean condition, you can reduce the impact of that softer trend. A well-kept example should still appeal to shoppers who want a compact luxury sedan with a sporty personality and premium features.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Lexus IS or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 29.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 41.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.90% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2017 if you want the updated styling, standard safety tech, and a market that currently gives you some negotiating room. If you are especially price-sensitive, a different year may be worth comparing, but the 2017 is a strong choice when you want a well-equipped compact luxury sedan with a sporty feel.
