Is the 2017 Lexus ES a good car?

Yes — the 2017 Lexus ES earns a 5/5 user rating, which points to very strong owner satisfaction. That fits its role as a comfort-first luxury sedan for buyers who want a relaxed daily driver rather than something sporty. Is the 2017 Lexus ES reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback highlights reliability, dependability, and a trouble-free ownership experience, along with the kind of comfort and build quality that tends to matter over the long haul. For used buyers, that suggests lower ownership risk than you might expect from a luxury sedan, especially if you choose a well-maintained example.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Lexus ES?

At 48.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

Start with a vehicle history report so you can confirm accident records, title status, and service history before you go any further. Then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on cars with higher mileage or incomplete records. Focus your attention on overall condition, signs of prior bodywork, and whether the cabin and mechanicals match the seller’s description.

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile options.

If you find a listing below $20,367, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Lexus ES's resale value?

The current average of $21,849 sits slightly above last year's $21,173.

That upward move suggests the market is still willing to pay for a well-kept example, which is helpful if you plan to sell later. The year-over-year gain also points to steady demand rather than a softening market. If you keep mileage reasonable and maintenance records organized, you should be in a better position to protect value.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Lexus ES or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 34.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 48.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices are up 3.20% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $19,826, the 2016 costs less than the current year's $21,849 average.
• It offers a value-focused, comfort-first luxury experience with a quiet cabin and easy-to-use tech.

The bottom line: Choose the 2017 if you want the stronger current-market balance of satisfaction, availability, and pricing momentum. If your priority is spending less upfront, the 2016 is the better value-oriented alternative, especially if you want a calm, comfortable luxury sedan and can live with an older model year.
