How much does the 2017 Hyundai Elantra cost?

There are 1,644 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare.

Is the 2017 Hyundai Elantra a good car?

Yes — the 2017 Hyundai Elantra earns a 4.73/5 user rating and an 8.83/10 expert rating. The model scores 10/10 across Cost effectiveness and Safety.

Owners consistently praise its comfort, fuel efficiency, and value for money, and they also highlight the comfortable seating and advanced technology. In use, it comes across as a practical compact car that feels more substantial than its price suggests, especially if you want everyday usability with a more upscale feel.

With 27.4% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a meaningful chance to find a well-priced example.

Is the 2017 Hyundai Elantra reliable?

Owners rate it 4.73/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a car that feels dependable in daily use, with comfort, fuel efficiency, and value showing up again and again as strengths. That kind of repeat praise matters because it suggests the Elantra is the sort of car you can count on for routine commuting and ownership over time.

The expert review also emphasizes that it was built as a value-oriented small car that doesn’t feel cheap, which supports the case for steady long-term use. For used buyers, the main ownership risk is less about the car’s basic appeal and more about finding one that has been maintained well and not worn down by prior use.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Hyundai Elantra?

At 46.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a careful inspection of body panels, alignment, and signs of prior repair. Because accident history is common enough to matter here, condition should carry extra weight in your decision. Focus on how the car drives, how the cabin wears, and whether the equipment works as expected.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The SE trim gives you the basics, including power windows and locks, a 6-speaker stereo, and USB/auxiliary inputs. The Limited adds Bluetooth hands-free phone connectivity with voice control, keyless entry, push-button start, and steering-wheel-mounted audio and cruise controls, so it is the better-equipped choice if you want a more polished daily driver.
• Powertrain: The standard setup uses a 2.0-liter engine with drive modes for Normal, Sport, and Eco. An Eco trim was also planned with a turbocharged 1.4-liter inline 4-cylinder and an estimated 35 mpg combined.
• Safety package: Available safety tech includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, and a backup camera with rear cross-path detection. Electronic stability control, vehicle stability management, traction control, and a tire pressure monitoring system are also included.
• Infotainment: Standard equipment includes USB/auxiliary audio inputs and SiriusXM satellite radio. Higher trims add navigation with turn-by-turn instructions in the gauge-cluster display, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are available through the touchscreen.
• Fuel efficiency: The Elantra is estimated at 29 mpg city, 38 highway, and 33 combined. The Limited returns 28 mpg city and 37 highway, while the SE with the manual is rated at 26/36.

Which 2017 Hyundai Elantra trim should I buy?

The 2017 Hyundai Elantra is offered in 2 trim levels: SE and Limited.

Here's the short version:

• SE: This is the value-focused choice if you want the lowest entry price and the core Elantra experience. You still get power windows and locks, a 6-speaker stereo, and USB/auxiliary inputs, and it can be optioned with some of the nicer convenience features.
• Limited: This is the best-value trim if you want the most complete version of the car. It adds Bluetooth with voice control, keyless entry, push-button start, and steering-wheel controls, and it can be equipped with the Tech Package and Ultimate Package for navigation, premium audio, heated rear seats, smart cruise control, and more advanced safety tech.

The safety packages are important here: forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-path detection are available, but some of the more advanced features are tied to higher trims or packages.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Hyundai Elantra?

• Deal availability: 27.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,644 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.41% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $9,318, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Hyundai Elantra's resale value?

The current average of $9,335 sits slightly below last year's $10,193.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you buy at a strong price and keep the car in good condition, you can reduce the impact of that depreciation. The current pricing also suggests that well-kept examples should remain attractive to budget-minded shoppers.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.73/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Hyundai Elantra or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 27.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 46.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.41% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.73/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2017 stands out for its redesign, strong technology focus, and high safety and cost-effectiveness scores.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $8,169, the 2016 costs less than the current year's $9,335 average.
• It is roomy, efficient, simple, and safe.

The bottom line: If you want the stronger all-around package, the 2017 is the better pick because it brings the redesign, better tech, and stronger safety emphasis. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2016 is the more budget-friendly route and still delivers the core Elantra value formula.
