How much does the 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 cost?

Prices have softened 10.35% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,117 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of trucks to compare.

Is the 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 a good car?

Generally — the 4.32/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners commonly praise its power, smooth ride, and comfortable interior, and many also like the range of features and overall value. For you, that makes it a good fit if you want a full-size pickup that can handle daily driving while still feeling more upscale than a basic work truck. With 28.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still meaningful market opportunity if you shop carefully.

Is the 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.32/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback also points to a truck that many drivers find dependable over time, with praise for its overall value and comfort alongside some concerns about reliability issues with certain engines. That mix suggests you should focus on maintenance history and mechanical condition, because long-term ownership risk is more about individual truck history than the model’s broad appeal.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 GMC Sierra 1500?

At 65.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection from a trusted mechanic. Pay close attention to body condition, signs of prior repair, and how the truck drives and shifts, since those details matter most when you’re sorting through used full-size pickups.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 GMC Sierra 1500?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you stay disciplined.

• Deal availability: 28.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,117 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.35% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 65.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $22,817, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 GMC Sierra 1500's resale value?

The current average of $22,817 sits slightly below last year's $25,452.

That price movement suggests the truck has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can help future resale if you buy at the right number. If you pay close to the current average, your upside is more about owning a desirable truck than expecting rapid appreciation. Strong owner satisfaction can also help support demand when you eventually sell.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.32/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 28.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 65.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.35% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.32/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2018 if:

• At $25,996, the 2018 costs more than the current year's $22,817 average.
• It adds more standard content and safety features.

The bottom line: If you want the better value play, the 2017 is the stronger starting point because it costs less and still has solid owner approval. If you’re willing to pay more for added standard equipment and a slightly newer model year, the 2018 is the better secondary path for buyers who prioritize convenience features over price.
