How much does the 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 cost?

Prices have softened 7.66% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,671 listings available, which gives you a solid pool to compare prices and equipment.

Is the 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 a good car?

Generally — the 4.15/5 user rating and 8.17/10 expert rating point to a truck that lands well with both owners and testers. The standout strength is Technology at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise the smooth ride, impressive power, comfortable interior, and the way it handles well on highways and while towing. The overview also frames this model year as a major redesign with gains in comfort, capability, and refinement, which fits the truck’s more polished full-size-pickup character.

26.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so you still have room to shop selectively.

Is the 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.15/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner summary points to a truck that feels smooth, capable, and comfortable, while also using language that suggests many buyers find it dependable in everyday use. The expert notes also describe it as a major improvement over the previous truck, with a refined driving character and strong capability that support confidence over time.

At the same time, some owners report mechanical issues and rust problems, so a careful pre-purchase inspection matters if you want to reduce long-term ownership risk.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 GMC Sierra 1500?

At 62.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle-history report and then prioritize a hands-on inspection of body panels, frame areas, and underbody condition. Because owner feedback mentions mechanical issues and rust concerns, condition should matter as much as mileage or trim. If you’re considering a truck that has been used for towing or work, pay extra attention to wear items and signs of hard use.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The truck is offered in Regular, Double, and Crew Cab body styles, with standard, SLE, and SLT trim levels. The cabin is described as a significant upgrade, with soft-touch surfaces, a premium headliner, and genuine aluminum trim in many models, while the SLT still uses fake wood that is more convincing than before.
• Powertrain: You can choose a 4.3-liter V6, a 5.3-liter V8, or a 6.2-liter V8, all with direct fuel injection, variable valve timing, and Active Fuel Management. A 6-speed automatic is the only transmission, and 4-wheel drive is optional.
• Safety package: Most models come standard with OnStar telematics and a reversing camera. GMC also offers a Driver Alert Package with front and rear parking assist sensors, Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, and a Safety Alert Seat. Side Blind Zone Alert is notably absent.
• Infotainment: The Sierra uses GMC IntelliLink with a color 8-inch screen, natural voice recognition, large icons, touch-sensitive buttons, and a Home button for easy menu switching.
• Fuel efficiency: The 5.3-liter V8 4WD is rated at 16 mpg city, 22 highway, and 18 combined. The test truck returned 16.7 mpg, and the 4.3-liter V6 is rated to tow up to 7,200 pounds while the 6.2-liter V8 is rated up to 12,000 pounds.

Which 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 trim should I buy?

The 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 is offered in 3 trim levels: standard, SLE, SLT.

Here's the short version:

• standard: This is the entry point if you want the lowest-cost path into the redesigned Sierra. It gives you the core truck experience, but you’ll miss some of the more upscale cabin materials and convenience touches found higher up.
• SLE: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it balances the Sierra’s upgraded interior, available technology, and everyday usefulness without pushing you into the highest-priced version.
• SLT: Choose this if you want the more upscale feel, including the more premium cabin presentation and the richer feature set described in the test-drive data.

For safety, most models include OnStar and a reversing camera, while the Driver Alert Package adds front and rear parking assist sensors, Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, and a Safety Alert Seat.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 GMC Sierra 1500?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right truck.

• Deal availability: 26.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,671 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.66% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 62.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $16,495, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 GMC Sierra 1500's resale value?

The current average of $16,495 sits slightly below last year's $17,864.

That softer pricing suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point. For resale, that also means future value will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the truck has been maintained. A clean history and strong service records should matter more than ever if you want to protect your exit price later.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.15/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 safe?

The Sierra Crew Cab earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA, along with four-star rollover ratings for both rear-drive and 4-wheel-drive trims.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Most models come standard with OnStar telematics and a reversing camera, and OnStar includes Automatic Crash Response, Crisis Assist, and Emergency Services. GMC also offers a Driver Alert Package with front and rear parking assist sensors, Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, and a Safety Alert Seat that vibrates if you drift out of a lane.

A notable shortcoming is the absence of Side Blind Zone Alert, especially since the truck does not have integrated blind-spot mirrors.

Should I buy a 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 26.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 62.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.66% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.15/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The redesign brings a much more polished cabin, stronger capability, and a safer-feeling overall package.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $19,066, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $16,495 average.
• It adds a smart cabin with an 8-inch touchscreen and a more mature exterior.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2014 is the smarter starting point because pricing has softened and the redesign brought major gains in comfort, capability, and technology. If you’re willing to pay more for a newer model year with a slightly more polished cabin presentation, the 2015 is the secondary path to consider.
