Is the 2017 Ford Taurus a good car?

Generally — the 2017 Ford Taurus earns a 4.4/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its comfortable ride, stylish look, and strong performance, especially in the SHO version, while also noting its roomy, practical nature for everyday use. If you want a full-size sedan with comfort and capability, this model year fits that brief well, though the market still shows only 27.8% of listings as good or great deals.

Is the 2017 Ford Taurus reliable?

Owners rate it 4.4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback also points to a dependable, trouble-free experience for many shoppers, with comments that suggest it can be a car you count on over the long term. At the same time, some owners mention concerns about potential coolant issues, so a careful pre-purchase inspection matters if you want to reduce long-term ownership risk.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Ford Taurus?

At 56.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any reported damage was repaired properly. Put inspection priority on body condition, panel alignment, and signs of past collision work, then verify that the car drives cleanly and that all electronics and controls operate as expected. Because owner feedback also mentions potential coolant concerns, it’s smart to have a mechanic check for leaks, warning signs, or evidence of cooling-system repairs.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Ford Taurus?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right car.

• Deal availability: 27.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 497 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.15% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 56.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $10,777, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Ford Taurus's resale value?

The current average of $10,980 sits slightly below last year's $11,825.

That price movement suggests the Taurus has already absorbed some of its depreciation, which can help limit how much value you lose if you buy at the right price. For a future seller, the softer market means resale gains are unlikely, so condition and purchase price matter more than timing alone. Strong owner satisfaction can still help support demand when you eventually list it.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Ford Taurus or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 27.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 56.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.15% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2017 makes the most sense if you want a full-size sedan with strong owner approval and you can verify condition carefully before buying. If you’re especially price-sensitive, a nearby model year may be worth comparing, but the 2017 remains a sensible target when you find a clean example at the right price.
