How much does the 2017 Ford Mustang cost?

Prices have softened 6.22% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,735 listings available, which suggests a healthy amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2017 Ford Mustang a good car?

Generally — the 2017 Ford Mustang earns a 4.42/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners repeatedly praise its powerful performance, fun driving experience, and stylish design, and many also like the range of engine choices. For shoppers, that means you can use it as either an accessible performance car or a more serious muscle-car option, depending on the configuration you choose. With 31.8% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still room to shop selectively.

Is the 2017 Ford Mustang reliable?

Owners rate it 4.42/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a car that many drivers enjoy and continue to trust over time, especially when it comes to performance and driving enjoyment. The broad praise for the model’s character suggests it can be a dependable ownership experience when maintained properly. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that condition and maintenance history matter a lot, so a neglected example can become expensive quickly.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Ford Mustang?

At 55.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. Put inspection priority on maintenance records, drivetrain condition, and signs of hard use, since performance cars can hide wear more easily than ordinary commuters. Focus on overall condition first, then compare examples with cleaner histories and stronger service documentation.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Ford Mustang?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you stay patient.

• Deal availability: 31.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,735 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.22% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 55.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $20,070, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Ford Mustang's resale value?

The current average of $21,041 sits slightly below last year's $22,436.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled a bit, which can help you buy more carefully now but may also limit short-term appreciation if you plan to resell soon. A softer market often means future sellers need to lean more heavily on condition, mileage, and documentation to stand out. Well-kept examples should still hold attention because the Mustang remains a desirable performance car.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.42/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Ford Mustang or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 31.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 55.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.22% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.42/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $18,850, the 2016 costs less than the current year's $21,041 average.
• It adds fresh styling touches and updated tech.

Consider the 2018 if:

• At $22,291, the 2018 costs more than the current year's $21,041 average.
• It brings more sophistication and stronger mechanical and tech improvements.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, selection, and owner satisfaction, the 2017 is the primary pick. If your budget is tighter, the 2016 is the better value path; if you want a newer-feeling Mustang and can spend more, the 2018 is the upgrade path.
