What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500?

At 61.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean trucks from those with accident records. Because this model year has a reputation that makes careful screening worthwhile, condition and maintenance history should matter more to you than mileage alone.

Trucks with clean histories and strong owner satisfaction tend to draw steadier demand, especially when shoppers are comparing multiple used examples.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.24/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 31.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 61.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.60% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.24/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want a full-size Silverado with strong owner satisfaction and a lower average price than last year, the 2017 is a sensible place to shop, especially if you can verify a clean history and strong maintenance. If you are especially price-sensitive, you may also want to compare nearby years and focus on the best-maintained truck rather than the newest badge.
