What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500?

At 61.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from trucks with accident records or repeated repairs. After that, prioritize a pre-purchase inspection with extra attention to the transmission, since that is one of the main concerns on this generation. You should also focus on overall condition, including signs of heavy use, because a well-kept truck will matter more than mileage alone.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500?

This is a moderate market, so you can be selective without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 30.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.

If you find a listing below $18,179, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500's resale value?

The current average of $18,194 sits slightly below last year's $19,963.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can help you buy at a better entry point today. For a future seller, softer pricing now can mean less upside if the market stays flat, so condition and documentation will matter even more when it is time to resell. Trucks that are clean, well maintained, and backed by strong ownership satisfaction usually hold buyer interest better than neglected examples.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 30.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 61.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.86% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $17,096, the 2015 costs less than the current year's $18,194 average.
• It offers a more straightforward, traditional truck formula.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2016 if you want the stronger overall mix of value, owner satisfaction, and updated features. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2015 is the better price-first alternative, especially if its simpler setup fits how you plan to use the truck.
