How much does the 2017 BMW X3 cost?

Prices have softened 9.85% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,140 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare.

Is the 2017 BMW X3 a good car?

Yes — the 4.7/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners repeatedly praise the luxurious interior, smooth ride, sporty performance, and practical features, and the cabin comfort and powerful engine come up often as standout strengths. For you, that means this X3 fits especially well if you want a compact luxury SUV that feels engaging to drive while still working as an everyday family vehicle. With 36.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is also a meaningful amount of market value to consider.

Is the 2017 BMW X3 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also points to a dependable-feeling ownership experience, with praise centered on comfort, power, and practical day-to-day use. That said, premium vehicles can bring higher upkeep, so your long-term ownership risk is less about basic satisfaction and more about staying ahead of maintenance and condition-related costs.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 BMW X3?

At 64.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with prior damage or repeated claims. After that, prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on body condition, signs of repair quality, and any wear that could hint at deferred maintenance. Because this is a premium SUV, you should pay close attention to how well the cabin, electronics, and service records line up with the asking price.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 BMW X3?

This is a moderate market, so you can be selective without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 36.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,140 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.85% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 64.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $12,279, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 BMW X3's resale value?

The current average of $12,279 sits slightly below last year's $13,621.

That softer pricing can help you buy in at a more favorable point, but it also suggests the model has already absorbed some of its near-term depreciation. If you plan to resell later, your best protection is choosing a well-kept example with strong documentation and avoiding cars with accident history or visible wear. A clean, well-maintained X3 should be easier to move than one that looks like a bargain only on paper.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 BMW X3 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 36.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 64.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.85% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2018 if:

• At $17,749, the 2018 costs more than the current year's $12,279 average.
• It brings a complete redesign that makes the X3 feel fully new.

The bottom line: If you want the better value play, the 2017 is the smarter starting point because it combines a lower average price with strong owner satisfaction. If you care more about getting the newer-generation redesign and can stretch your budget, the 2018 is the better upgrade path.
