Why it stands out
The 2016 Toyota Tundra is recognized for its impressive power and reliability, making it a strong contender in the full-size truck segment. Its capable 5.7-liter V8 engine delivers 381 horsepower and a towing capacity of up to 10,500 pounds, offering robust performance for hauling and towing tasks. The truck also boasts a comfortable interior with ample room, particularly in the CrewMax configuration, making it suitable for both work and family use. However, it's important to note that the Tundra's fuel economy leaves something to be desired, especially compared to more modern competitors, which have adopted newer technology for better efficiency. Additionally, while the Tundra's styling is appealing, its older suspension design affects ride quality when compared to rivals like the Ford F-150 and Ram 1500. Overall, for buyers who value reliability and resale value—having received accolades from Kelley Blue Book for its resale— the Tundra remains a solid choice, despite some drawbacks in fuel efficiency.
