Is the 2016 Toyota Sequoia a good car?

Yes — the 2016 Toyota Sequoia earns a 5/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. The overview frames it as a full-size, body-on-frame SUV with three-row practicality, truck-based toughness, and seating for up to eight passengers depending on the second-row layout. It is aimed at you if you want a large family hauler with proven hardware, impressive towing ability, and available four-wheel drive rather than a softer, car-based SUV. 32.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2016 Toyota Sequoia reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. The overview emphasizes its reputation for durability, straightforward powertrain design, and strong following among Toyota fans. It also notes that the model’s truck roots and proven components are a big part of its appeal, especially if you want a vehicle built around longevity rather than novelty. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that age and truck-based wear can matter more than mileage alone, so condition should guide your decision.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Toyota Sequoia?

At 49% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any reported damage was repaired properly. Put inspection priority on body condition, frame-related concerns, and signs of water intrusion or poor repairs, since those can affect long-term ownership more than cosmetic wear. The overview also points to the sliding rear window as a useful feature that can become a problem area if water gets into the mechanism, so make sure it operates cleanly and seals correctly.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Toyota Sequoia?

This is a moderate market, so you can shop selectively without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 32.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 241 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.19% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $22,638, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Toyota Sequoia's resale value?

The current average of $22,638 sits slightly below last year's $25,206.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point today. For a future seller, it also means your resale outcome will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the vehicle has been maintained. Because the Sequoia is positioned as a durable, truck-based SUV with strong utility, well-kept examples should continue to attract buyers who value that formula. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Toyota Sequoia or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 32.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 49% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.19% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of value, proven durability, and current market flexibility, the 2016 is a sensible primary target. If you are especially price-sensitive, you can also compare nearby years to see whether a cleaner or cheaper example offers a better fit for your budget and condition standards.
