Why it stands out
The 2024 Toyota Sequoia stands out in the full-size SUV class because it comes with a standard hybrid powertrain, a change that arrived when it entered its third generation. That setup gives it a distinctive mix of improved fuel economy and stronger towing and hauling ability, while the tech updates and facelift were described as broadly well received. It also brings standard advanced safety features, easy-to-use technology, and a generous amount of premium equipment, which helps it feel well equipped right from the start.
The tradeoff is space. The move to hybrid power reduced cargo room and third-row space to make room for the battery, so the Sequoia is not especially spacious. Its third row is cramped, and it does not offer much cargo space. Even so, the 2024 Toyota Sequoia remains appealing for buyers who want a full-size SUV with standard hybrid efficiency, solid capability, and a strong list of standard features.

Ok, so I wrote a long review, but it didnt go through. Pros - exterior is best in its class. Interior - best in class if you like a rugged look and exclude Escalade (saw a 2021 and it killed the Sequoia, but was $30,000 more). Technology and touch screen have improved significantly. Seats 7 comfortably, but not good on rear storage space if seating 7. Power is actually amongst best in its class. Towing is really good even though I have not used it. Although storage space behind 3rd row is bad, it actually fits in the garage. My street has large full size SUVs (Suburban, Tahoe and Navigators) and they all sit in the driveway. Im sorry, but if you are shelling out that much money for the vehicle and cant have it in the garage, that is not good. Cons - Rear storage area is likely worst in class of large full sized SUVS. The batteries and live rear axle make it so the seats dont go all the way down and you cant really take the seats out from what I can see..... Gas mileage is below what is advertised (only 200 miles in and have done mostly city), but Im getting 17.6. Although this is better than most if not all in its class, I was hoping to average at least 20. Overall - If you can afford it and want a vehicle that stands out and has a presence on the road, and you can trust it to be reliable, this is the vehicle for you. If you dont have an extra $25,000, to shell out for how awesome this vehicle is, get a Grand Highlander as you get most of the pros of this vehicle at a lower price point. However, a Grand Highlander is not this and will never be this, but does many of the same things (except towing) with better gas mileage. With that said, I still buy this 10/10 times as I could never see myself driving a Grand Highlander as a single dad.

| Year-Round High | $72,725.62 |

Prices have softened 8.16% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
With 1,229 listings available, you have a solid amount of inventory to compare before you buy.
If you find a listing below $66,803.66, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2024 Toyota Sequoia a good car?
Yes — the 2024 Toyota Sequoia earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.67/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 10/10.
It stands out as a full-size SUV with a standard hybrid powertrain, standard advanced safety features, easy-to-use technology, and a generous amount of premium equipment right from the start. That makes it especially appealing if you want a family hauler with strong capability and a well-equipped feel without moving up the trim ladder.
The trade-offs are clear: the third row is cramped, and cargo space is limited. Those compromises matter most if you need maximum passenger room or frequent cargo flexibility.
With 32.5% of listings priced as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2024 Toyota Sequoia reliable?
Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
Toyota’s reputation for long-term reliability supports the Sequoia’s appeal, and the standard hybrid setup adds a modern efficiency-and-capability angle without sacrificing its truck-based character. The powertrain is described as smooth and pleasant-sounding, and the overall package is presented as a compelling blend of strengths.
Toyota also backs it with three-year/36,000-mile comprehensive coverage and five-year/60,000-mile powertrain coverage, which helps reduce early ownership uncertainty. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about durability and more about living with the Sequoia’s tight third row and limited cargo room.
What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Toyota Sequoia?
Accident-free inventory is excellent at 94.1% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you plan to tow or use the SUV hard. Focus your condition check on the rear cargo area, third-row usability, and any signs that the truck has been used for frequent hauling or trailer duty.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base SR5 uses fabric seating surfaces, while SofTex is available on SR5 and standard on Limited and TRD Pro; leather is standard on Platinum, and Capstone gets semi-aniline leather. The base trim also misses some of the more upscale presentation you get as you move up the lineup.
- Powertrain: The Sequoia uses Toyota’s iForce MAX hybrid setup with a twin-turbo V6 and electric motor, making 437 horsepower and 583 lb-ft of torque. It is rated at 20 mpg combined with 4WD.
- Safety package: Every trim gets Toyota Safety Sense 2.5, including pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, lane-departure alert with steering assist, adaptive cruise control, and road-sign recognition. Front and rear parking sensors with automatic braking, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, and Trailer Merge Warning are also standard.
- Infotainment: SR5 uses an 8-inch touchscreen, while every other trim gets a 14-inch center touchscreen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, the Panoramic View monitor is standard, and the system is designed to be easy to use.
- Fuel efficiency: The Sequoia is rated at 20 mpg combined with 4WD.
Which 2024 Toyota Sequoia trim should I buy?
The 2024 Toyota Sequoia is offered in 5 trim levels: SR5, Limited, Platinum, TRD Pro, Capstone.
Here's the short version:
- SR5: This is the value play if you want the Sequoia’s standard hybrid powertrain, standard safety tech, and the strongest towing capability in the lineup. It also starts with the smaller 8-inch touchscreen, so it is the most straightforward choice rather than the most luxurious one.
- Limited: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds more upscale equipment while keeping the core Sequoia formula intact. It also opens the door to available SofTex and the Tow Technology Package, making it a smart middle ground.
- Platinum: Choose this if you want a more premium cabin, standard leather, the panoramic roof, and the 14-speaker JBL audio system. It is the trim that most clearly leans into comfort and upscale features.
- TRD Pro: This is the pick if you want the most adventure-ready version, with 4WD, a skid plate, and the TRD Off-Road package’s added hardware and driver aids. It suits you best if off-pavement capability matters more than luxury touches.
- Capstone: This is the top luxury-oriented trim, with the most chrome, semi-aniline leather, the panoramic roof, the head-up display, and standard JBL audio. It is the right choice if you want the most premium presentation in the lineup.
Every trim gets Toyota Safety Sense 2.5, plus standard blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and Trailer Merge Warning.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Toyota Sequoia?
This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without feeling rushed.
- Deal availability: 32.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 1,229 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 8.16% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 94.1% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $66,803.66, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2024 Toyota Sequoia's resale value?
The current average of $66,795 sits slightly below last year's $72,732.
That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy more confidently now. For a future seller, it also means resale value may depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the truck’s premium features hold up over time.
Because the Sequoia combines strong capability with standard hybrid efficiency and a well-equipped cabin, it should continue to attract shoppers who want a full-size SUV with a distinctive setup. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2024 Toyota Sequoia safe?
It earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.
Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 is standard on every trim, and it includes a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, lane-departure alert with steering assist, adaptive cruise control, and road-sign recognition. You also get front and rear parking sensors with automatic braking, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, and Trailer Merge Warning as standard equipment.
The Tow Technology Package adds a digital rearview mirror and trailer backup guide with Straight-Path Assist, and it is available on SR5 and Limited trims and standard on the higher three. The main caveat is that the 2024 Sequoia has not been rated by IIHS or NHTSA, so there are no crash-test results to cite for this model year.
Should I buy a 2024 Toyota Sequoia or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2024 if:
- 32.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is excellent at 94.1% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 8.16% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The 2024 brings a standard hybrid powertrain, standard safety tech, and broad tech updates.
Consider the 2023 if:
- At $61,757, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $66,795 average.
- It introduced the redesign and standard hybrid setup.
Consider the 2025 if:
- At $71,511, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $66,795 average.
- It adds the 1794 Edition luxury model.
The bottom line: If you want the best mix of modern tech, standard hybrid efficiency, and current-market pricing, the 2024 is the strongest all-around choice. If your budget is tighter, the 2023 gives you the redesign at a lower entry price, while the 2025 makes sense only if you specifically want the newer luxury trim and are willing to pay more.
