How much does the 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe cost?

Prices have softened 11.96% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 358 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe a good car?

Yes — 5/5 is a strong user rating for this model year, and the Santa Fe’s appeal comes from its broad mix of two-row and three-row configurations, useful cabin space, and well-equipped interior. The third-row version is especially notable for its rear-seat legroom, and the available equipment list includes practical family features like a backup camera, dual-zone climate control on three-row models, and heated second-row seats.

It also gives you multiple powertrain choices, including a 2.4-liter inline-four, a turbo 2.0-liter inline-four, and a 3.3-liter V-6, so you can prioritize efficiency, punch, or smoothness depending on your needs. 28.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Santa Fe’s overall package leans practical and well equipped, with standard features that make daily use easier and a layout that works well for families. Its broad availability of comfort and convenience features suggests a vehicle designed to handle regular ownership duties without feeling stripped down.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about the feature set and more about finding one that has been maintained properly and hasn’t accumulated avoidable wear.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe?

At 56.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report on any promising listing and confirm whether prior damage was minor or structural. Put inspection priority on body condition, panel alignment, and signs of uneven wear, since those can reveal whether a past incident affected the vehicle beyond cosmetics. Focus on overall condition and maintenance evidence so you can separate a clean, well-kept SUV from one that only looks good in photos.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe?

This is a moderate market, so you can shop selectively without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 28.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 358 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.96% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 56.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $9,665, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe's resale value?

The current average of $9,853 sits slightly below last year's $11,192.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point today. For future resale, the softer current pricing means your upside may be more about buying well than expecting appreciation. If you keep the vehicle in strong condition and avoid accident history, you should be in a better position when it’s time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 28.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 56.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.96% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $9,555, the 2015 costs less than the current year's $9,853 average.
• It offers a practical, fun-to-drive feel with strong turbocharged punch.

The bottom line: You should start with the 2016 if you want the stronger current market balance of price, inventory, and buyer interest. If your top priority is spending less upfront, the 2015 is the better price-sensitive alternative.
