How much does the 2016 Honda Odyssey cost?

There are 1,548 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2016 Honda Odyssey a good car?

Yes — the 2016 Honda Odyssey earns a 4.9/5 user rating and an 8.2/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, and Safety.

Owners consistently praise the spacious interior, good gas mileage, and great handling. They also highlight the roomy design, sliding doors, and versatile seating, which fit the Odyssey’s role as a family-focused minivan especially well.

That lines up with the overview: you’re looking at a vehicle built to carry people and cargo with comfort and flexibility at the center of the experience. With 32.3% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market still gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2016 Honda Odyssey reliable?

Owners rate it 4.9/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a vehicle that feels dependable in everyday family use, with repeated praise for its spacious cabin, good gas mileage, and great handling. The expert evaluation also emphasizes that the Odyssey is built to do the job of family hauling with confidence, and Honda’s reputation for reliability and resale value reinforces that impression.

You also get a 3-year/36,000-mile limited warranty, 24-by-7 roadside assistance over the same period, and a 5-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is making sure prior wear and maintenance history are clean, since family vehicles often see heavy daily use.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Honda Odyssey?

At 56.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one with visible cosmetic wear. Focus on signs of interior abuse, sliding-door operation, and whether the family-friendly features still work as intended.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base LX is the only trim with seating for 7 instead of 8, and it lacks Honda LaneWatch, the 7-inch audio touchscreen, and some of the convenience and safety upgrades found higher up. The SE adds rear-seat entertainment, a 115-volt outlet, SiriusXM radio, and the HondaVac, while the Touring Elite adds the most premium equipment, including blind-spot information and the upgraded audio and entertainment setup.
• Powertrain: You get a 3.5-liter V6 with 248 hp and 250 lb-ft of torque paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. It’s front-wheel drive only, and the fuel economy is 19 mpg city/28 highway/22 combined.
• Safety package: Vehicle stability assist with traction control, antilock brakes, daytime running lights, and a rear-view camera are standard. Honda LaneWatch is on all but the base LX, while forward-collision warning and lane-departure warning arrive on the EX-L. The blind-spot information system is exclusive to the Touring Elite.
• Infotainment: Every trim gets an 8-inch high-resolution display, Bluetooth HandsFreeLink and streaming audio, Pandora, a USB audio interface, and MP3 capability. Higher trims add the 7-inch audio touchscreen, SiriusXM radio, HD Radio, navigation with voice recognition, and a rear entertainment system.
• Fuel efficiency: The Odyssey is rated at 19 mpg city, 28 highway, and 22 combined, and real-world testing returned 24 mpg in mixed driving that leaned slightly toward highway travel.

Which 2016 Honda Odyssey trim should I buy?

The 2016 Honda Odyssey is offered in 6 trim levels: LX, EX, SE, EX-L, Touring, Touring Elite.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the least expensive way into the Odyssey, but it’s also the most stripped-down. You still get the core family-hauling basics, including the rear-view camera, power front seats, and the 8-inch display, but it’s the trim most likely to leave you wanting more convenience and safety tech.
• EX: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds the 8-passenger layout, power sliding doors, push-button start, Honda LaneWatch, and a better infotainment setup without jumping too far up the price ladder.
• SE: This trim is aimed at families who want rear-seat entertainment and the HondaVac without going all the way to the top of the range. It’s a smart pick if those features matter most to you.
• EX-L: This is the trim to target if you want a more complete family vehicle, since it adds forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, a power tailgate, heated leather front seats, and a moonroof.
• Touring: This trim layers on more comfort and convenience, including navigation, rear entertainment, fog lights, and an acoustic windshield. It’s the step up for buyers who want a more premium feel.
• Touring Elite: This is the most fully equipped Odyssey, with blind-spot information, the best audio system, and the widest entertainment screen. It’s the right choice if you want the top safety and convenience package.

The safety package is strongest on the Touring Elite, while the EX-L is the best balance of added safety and value for most shoppers.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Honda Odyssey?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 32.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,548 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.61% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 56.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $13,279, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Honda Odyssey's resale value?

The current average of $13,759 sits slightly below last year's $14,423.

That price movement suggests the Odyssey has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help if you buy now and plan to own it for a while. If you’re a future seller, the current market shows that well-kept examples still have meaningful demand, especially because shoppers value the Odyssey’s family-friendly packaging and strong reputation.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2016 Honda Odyssey safe?

The 2016 Honda Odyssey earns the IIHS's highest rating of Good in every category and a Top Safety Pick rating from the IIHS. It earns five-star ratings in frontal and side crash tests and four-star ratings in rollover, for an overall five-star rating from NHTSA.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes multiple airbags, active front head restraints, vehicle stability control, antilock brakes, brake assist, electronic brakeforce distribution, a tire pressure monitoring system, and a rear-view camera. Honda LaneWatch is standard on all but the base LX, while forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, and a blind-spot information system are available on select trims.

The main caveat is that it lacks autonomous braking, which kept it from earning the IIHS Top Safety Pick Plus rating. That means you should pay close attention to trim level if advanced driver assistance matters to you.

Should I buy a 2016 Honda Odyssey or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 32.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 56.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.61% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It combines family-friendly flexibility with strong safety ratings and a useful mix of features.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $12,471, the 2015 costs less than the current year's $13,759 average.
• It emphasizes practicality and family use, with strong owner praise for comfort and usefulness.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, satisfaction, and feature content, the 2016 is the stronger all-around pick. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2015 is the better value-oriented alternative.

How does the 2016 Honda Odyssey compare to the 2016 Toyota Sienna?

Our experts score the 2016 Honda Odyssey 8.2/10 and the 2016 Toyota Sienna 7.7/10.

The Odyssey gives you a lower average used price and better city and highway fuel economy, while the Sienna brings more horsepower and a slightly higher share of good and great deals. If you want the more affordable and efficient choice, the Odyssey has the edge; if you want more power, the Sienna is worth a look.
