Used 2016 Dodge Dart for Sale nearDetroit, MI

How much does the 2016 Dodge Dart cost?

Prices have softened 3.75% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 259 listings available, which gives you a modest pool of choices to compare.

Is the 2016 Dodge Dart a good car?

Yes — the 2016 Dodge Dart earns a 4.5/5 user rating and a 7.17/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel, Cost effectiveness, and Safety.

Owners repeatedly praise the sporty feel, comfort, and affordability, and they also call out good fuel efficiency. The Dart’s roomy footprint and big-car presence make it appealing if you want a compact sedan that feels more substantial than most.

That said, the overview points to a value-first compact sedan rather than a tech-forward one, so it fits you best if you care more about space, comfort, and price than the latest powertrain or convenience features. With 25.1% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market still gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2016 Dodge Dart reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback also points to a dependable-feeling ownership experience for many shoppers, with praise centered on comfort, affordability, and good fuel efficiency. The expert notes reinforce that the Dart is built around value and everyday usability, with a sturdy feel and competitive mileage from its more efficient engines.

The cost-effectiveness notes also highlight the Dart’s value positioning, which can help offset ownership concerns if you buy carefully. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that reported electrical issues and dated tech can become more annoying as the car ages.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Dodge Dart?

At 53.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has had bodywork or electrical complaints. Focus on overall condition, because the Dart’s value proposition depends heavily on whether the car has been maintained well and still feels tight and complete.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base SE is the most stripped-down version, while SXT, Aero, GT, and Limited add more equipment and a more upscale feel. The base trim misses the 8.4-inch Uconnect touchscreen, and the instrument cluster in SE and SXT grades is not very sharp or appealing.
• Powertrain: The Dart offers a 2.0-liter four-cylinder in SE, a 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder in Aero, and a 2.4-liter four-cylinder in the other trims. The turbo engine is tuned for low-rev cruising and can return strong highway efficiency, while the 2.4-liter brings more punch for everyday driving.
• Safety package: GT and Limited trims can add blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-path detection monitoring, rear parking assist, and smart-beam headlamps. Front crash prevention is not available in any grade.
• Infotainment: Most trims get an 8.4-inch Uconnect touchscreen, though it is not available in SE and is optional on SXT. A 7-inch TFT display is standard in Aero, Limited, and GT trims.
• Fuel efficiency: The 2.0-liter engine returns 25 mpg city/36 highway/29 combined with the manual, while the 1.4-liter turbo can achieve 28/41/32 with a manual. The 2.4-liter setup is less efficient than the smaller engines, especially in city driving.

Which 2016 Dodge Dart trim should I buy?

The 2016 Dodge Dart is offered in 5 trim levels: SE, SXT, Aero, GT, and Limited.

Here's the short version:

• SE: This is the entry point, and it makes sense if you want the lowest starting price and are comfortable with a simpler cabin. It gets the base 2.0-liter engine, but you give up the more appealing infotainment and instrument-cluster upgrades found higher up.
• SXT: This is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it moves you into a better-equipped Dart without jumping all the way to the pricier trims. It is a smart middle ground if you want the Dart’s size and comfort with a more balanced feature set.
• Aero: Choose this if fuel efficiency matters most and you want the 1.4-liter turbocharged engine. It is the efficiency-focused trim, especially for drivers who spend more time on the highway.
• GT: This is the better pick if you want more equipment and the stronger 2.4-liter engine. It also opens the door to more advanced safety features, making it a good fit if you want a more complete Dart.
• Limited: This is the most upscale version and suits you if you want the most comfort and convenience features in the lineup. It is the trim to consider if you want the Dart to feel as close as possible to a near-premium compact sedan.

GT and Limited trims are the ones that can add the advanced safety features, while front crash prevention is unavailable across the lineup.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Dodge Dart?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 25.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 259 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.75% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 53.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $7,117, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Dodge Dart's resale value?

The current average of $7,117 sits slightly below last year's $7,394.

That softer pricing suggests the Dart is in a buyer-friendly phase, which can help you if you plan to own it for a while before selling. For a future seller, the current market implies you may need to price competitively to move the car quickly, especially if it has higher mileage or a history report that shows prior damage.

The Dart’s value story is still supported by its strong owner satisfaction and practical appeal. If you keep it in good condition and maintain it well, you should be in a better position to preserve resale interest.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2016 Dodge Dart safe?

The 2016 Dodge Dart earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA, including five-star ratings for front and side crashes and a four-star rating for rollover testing. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety rated it Good in all crash tests except the small-overlap test, where it earned an Acceptable rating.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The Dart can be equipped with blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-path detection monitoring, rear parking assist, and smart-beam headlamps in GT and Limited trims. Rear backup cameras are standard on models equipped with the 8.4-inch touchscreen.

The main caveat is that front crash prevention is not available in any grade, so you should not expect the latest active-safety coverage here.

Should I buy a 2016 Dodge Dart or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 25.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 53.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.75% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• This year may be the last before a needed refresh, so it captures the Dart’s biggest-car-for-the-money appeal before any major changes.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $6,911, the 2015 costs less than the current year's $7,117 average.
• It offers a solid platform and a substantial feel that budget buyers may appreciate.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of value, space, and current-market availability, the 2016 is the better default choice. If your priority is spending less up front and you can live with an older model year, the 2015 is the better price-first alternative.
