How much does the 2016 Dodge Charger cost?

Prices have held steady compared to this time last year, signaling a stable and predictable market for this model year.

Is the 2016 Dodge Charger a good car?

Yes — the 2016 Dodge Charger earns a 4.8/5 user rating and an 8.17/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Performance.

You get a car that owners consistently praise for its powerful acceleration, stylish design, and comfortable interior. The overview also frames it as a surprisingly satisfying family sedan, so it works well if you want something with personality that still fits everyday use. Even so, the market shows 27.5% good or great deals, which suggests there are still attractive opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2016 Dodge Charger reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Drivers describe it as a car they really enjoy living with, and the owner feedback emphasizes strong value, comfortable daily use, and a satisfying overall experience. The expert commentary also points to a car that feels substantial and rewarding rather than fragile or disposable, with a driving character that supports confidence over time. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure you choose a well-kept example, since condition and maintenance history matter more than the badge.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Dodge Charger?

At 50.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle-history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. A pre-purchase inspection is worth prioritizing, especially if you want to understand how the car has been maintained and whether wear items match the mileage. Focus on overall condition, because the best used example will be the one that shows careful ownership rather than just a low asking price.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base SE and SXT are the key starting points, and the SXT adds a more equipped feel while still keeping the Charger’s straightforward cabin and easy-to-use layout.
• Powertrain: The standard setup uses a 3.6-liter V6, an 8-speed automatic, and rear-wheel drive, with all-wheel drive available for both trim levels. The V6 is described as excellent and efficient for a car this size.
• Safety package: Available driver-assistance features include forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, and lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist. Some of these technologies are optional rather than standard.
• Infotainment: The Charger uses an 8.4-inch touchscreen with Uconnect, and it offers a large, easy-to-use interface with programmable settings. The system can be slow to start or respond, and the reversing camera image is poor at night.
• Fuel efficiency: The V6 returned 22.9 mpg in combined driving and is rated at 23 mpg combined.

Which 2016 Dodge Charger trim should I buy?

The 2016 Dodge Charger is offered in 2 trim levels: SE and SXT.

Here's the short version:

• SE: This is the entry point if you want the Charger’s core formula at the lowest cost. It gives you the standard V6, rear-wheel drive, and the basic Charger experience, making it the value-first choice if you mainly want the style and size without extra equipment.
• SXT: This is the better-value trim for most shoppers because it adds a more complete feel while staying close to the affordable end of the lineup. It is the trim level to target if you want the Charger’s everyday usability with a stronger mix of comfort and equipment.

The safety package is available as an upgrade, so check whether the specific car you’re considering includes the driver-assistance features you want.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Dodge Charger?

This looks like a moderate, selective-buyer market, so you can shop with some leverage if you stay patient.

• Deal availability: 27.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 892 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 50.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $14,965, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Dodge Charger's resale value?

The current average of $15,468 sits slightly below last year's $15,578.

That small decline suggests the market has been fairly stable, which is helpful if you plan to resell later. You are not looking at a model year with sharp price swings, so a well-kept example should remain relatively easy to price and compare against similar listings. Strong condition and a clean history will matter most when it comes time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2016 Dodge Charger safe?

The 2016 Dodge Charger gets a Marginal rating in the small overlap frontal impact crash test conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, while other crash-test assessments earn top ratings from both the federal government and the IIHS.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

You can equip it with forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, and lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist. That said, the small-overlap result is the key caveat you should keep in mind when comparing used examples.

Should I buy a 2016 Dodge Charger or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 27.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 50.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It blends a surprisingly satisfying family-sedan feel with strong acceleration and a comfortable interior.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $13,110, the 2015 costs less than the current year's $15,468 average.
• It leans harder into aggressive styling and keeps a predictable, easy-to-live-with cabin.

Consider the 2017 if:

• At $18,336, the 2017 costs more than the current year's $15,468 average.
• It delivers a louder, more attention-grabbing muscle-car personality.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, owner satisfaction, and everyday usefulness, the 2016 is the smart default. If your priority is saving money, the 2015 is the better value play. If you want more drama and are willing to pay for it, the 2017 is the more expressive choice.
