Is the 2016 Chevrolet Trax a good car?

Yes — the 2016 Chevrolet Trax earns a 5/5 user rating, which points to strong shopper satisfaction. The overview frames it as a compact, practical, budget-conscious small SUV with city-friendly dimensions, an easy driving feel, and useful interior packaging. It also emphasizes the appeal of available all-wheel drive and the added seating position and cargo flexibility you get from a crossover. With 31.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a meaningful chance to find a competitive price.

Is the 2016 Chevrolet Trax reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The overview suggests the Trax’s appeal comes from straightforward, practical design rather than complexity, which can be a plus for used buyers who want a simple ownership experience. Its compact size, standard automatic transmission, and available all-wheel drive support that practical reputation. For long-term ownership, you should still focus on maintenance history and overall condition, since used examples can vary widely.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Chevrolet Trax?

At 59.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with prior damage. Then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on body panels, alignment, and signs of uneven wear that can hint at past repairs. Focus on overall condition and documentation, since a well-kept Trax is likely to be a better used buy than one with an unclear past.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Chevrolet Trax?

This is a moderate market, so you can be selective without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 31.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 842 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.96% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 59.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $8,393, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Chevrolet Trax's resale value?

The current average of $8,393 sits slightly below last year's $9,020.

That softer pricing suggests the Trax is currently more buyer-friendly than seller-friendly, which can limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you buy at the right price and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you can help protect your future resale position. The current market also suggests that well-priced examples should still attract attention from budget-conscious shoppers.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Chevrolet Trax or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 31.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 59.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.96% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2017 if:

• At $8,994, the 2017 costs more than the current year's $8,393 average.
• It adds updated styling and standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The bottom line: If your priority is value, the 2016 is the better starting point because it offers a lower average price and a healthy share of deal-priced listings. If you want newer tech and a refreshed look, the 2017 is the better alternative, but you should expect to pay more. For most price-sensitive buyers, the 2016 makes the stronger case.
