Is the 2016 Chevrolet Impala a good car?

The 2016 Chevrolet Impala stands out as a big, comfortable American sedan that emphasizes space, ride quality, and easy-to-use technology. It offers a cavernous interior, an expansive rear seat, great visibility, and an 18.8-cubic-foot trunk, making it especially appealing if you want a roomy family car without paying luxury-car money.

It also feels more upscale than its price tag suggests thanks to soft-touch materials, and its MyLink infotainment system, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, USB inputs, and available navigation give it a modern, user-friendly feel. If you value comfort, straightforward tech, and strong value in a traditional full-size sedan, this Impala fits that use case well.

28.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2016 Chevrolet Impala reliable?

The 2016 Chevrolet Impala is presented as a comfortable, well-rounded sedan with a strong value proposition and a refined feel for the money. Its appeal comes from the combination of space, ride quality, and user-friendly technology rather than from any single standout performance metric.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that condition and maintenance history matter a lot more than the badge or the asking price, so a careful pre-purchase review is important.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Chevrolet Impala?

At 51.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report and prioritize any signs of prior collision repair, inconsistent panel gaps, or mismatched paint. A thorough inspection should focus on the body, interior wear, and how well the technology and comfort features operate. Because this car is often bought for family duty and long-distance comfort, condition matters as much as price.

What is the 2016 Chevrolet Impala's resale value?

That softer pricing suggests the market has moved in buyers’ favor, which can help you get more car for your money today. For a future seller, it also means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on mileage, condition, and equipment rather than on broad market appreciation. If you keep the car clean and well documented, you’ll be in a better position to protect value when it’s time to sell.

Should I buy a 2016 Chevrolet Impala or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 28.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 51.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.13% compared with last year.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $10,842, the 2015 costs less than the current year's $11,192 average.
• It offers predictable, easygoing road manners.

The bottom line: If you want the stronger all-around shopping position, the 2016 is the better primary target because pricing has eased and there are enough listings to compare. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2015 is the better secondary path, especially if you find one in excellent condition with a clean history.
