How much does the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro cost?

Prices have softened 4.64% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,268 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare.

Is the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro a good car?

Generally — 4.38/5 from owners and 7.33/10 from our experts, the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro looks like a strong pick if you want a sporty coupe with modern hardware. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Technology.

Owners consistently praise its sporty design, smooth ride, powerful performance, advanced technology, and handling capabilities. That lines up well with the Camaro’s use case as a performance-focused car that still brings a more refined interior and updated infotainment than earlier versions.

The market also shows 29.3% of listings as good or great deals, so you have room to shop carefully and still find value.

Is the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro reliable?

Owners rate it 4.38/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a car that many drivers feel good about living with over time, with praise centered on its smooth ride, powerful performance, and advanced technology. That kind of response suggests you can count on the Camaro to deliver the experience buyers expect from it, especially if you want a sporty daily driver.

The expert evaluation also frames it as a more refined take on the Camaro formula, with a new platform and improved interior execution that support dependable everyday use. If you’re shopping used, the main long-term ownership risk is less about the core concept and more about finding a well-kept example that hasn’t been compromised by hard use or poor visibility-related wear.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Chevrolet Camaro?

At 54.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle-history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has been modified or driven hard. Pay close attention to body condition, panel alignment, tire wear, and any signs that the car has seen more aggressive use than the seller is describing.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The 2LT adds push-button start, an 8-way power driver’s seat, heated and ventilated front seats, dual-zone climate control, a Bose premium stereo, and the 8-inch MyLink touchscreen, while the Convenience and Lighting package adds rear park assist, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alerts.
• Powertrain: The base engine is a turbocharged inline 4-cylinder with 275 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque, with an available 3.6-liter V6 making 335 horsepower and 284 pound-feet of torque, and the SS using a 6.2-liter LT1 V8 with 455 horsepower and 455 lb-ft of torque.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes StabiliTrak stability control, traction control, advanced dual-stage airbags, and a backup camera, while the Convenience and Lighting package adds rear park assist, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alerts.
• Infotainment: Chevy’s MyLink uses an 8-inch touchscreen, and the car featured CarPlay plus a head-up display.
• Fuel efficiency: The turbo four with the 8-speed automatic returns 22 mpg city, 31 highway, 25 combined; the V6 automatic returns 19 mpg city, 28 highway, 23 combined; and the V8 SS with a manual returns 16 mpg city, 25 highway, 19 combined.

Which 2016 Chevrolet Camaro trim should I buy?

The 2016 Chevrolet Camaro is offered in 3 trim levels: 2LT, SS, and 2LT V6 Camaro.

Here's the short version:

• 2LT: This is the best-value choice if you want the Camaro’s modern cabin and daily comfort features without jumping to V8 pricing. It brings the 8-inch MyLink touchscreen, heated and ventilated front seats, dual-zone climate control, and a Bose premium stereo, making it the most balanced pick for most shoppers.
• 2LT V6 Camaro: This is the right step-up if you want stronger performance than the base turbo four while still keeping the car relatively efficient and usable. The V6 adds 335 horsepower and 284 pound-feet of torque, and the expert review describes it as a fun, effective compromise between performance, efficiency, and practicality.
• SS: Choose this if you want the full V8 experience, since it gets the 6.2-liter LT1 V8 with 455 horsepower and 455 lb-ft of torque. It’s the enthusiast’s choice, but it makes the most sense if straight-line power matters more than cost or everyday restraint.

The Convenience and Lighting package adds rear park assist, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alerts, which are worth prioritizing if you want extra driver-assistance coverage.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Chevrolet Camaro?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 29.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,268 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.64% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 54.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $21,025, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro's resale value?

The current average of $21,940 sits slightly below last year's $23,008.

That price movement suggests the Camaro has softened enough to create a better entry point for used buyers, but it also means future sellers may need to price competitively to stand out. If you buy well now and keep the car in strong condition, you’ll be better positioned to recover value later.

The model’s broad appeal as a sporty, modernized pony car should help keep demand steady among enthusiasts and style-focused shoppers. Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.38/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro safe?

The Camaro comes with safety features such as StabiliTrak stability control, traction control, advanced dual-stage airbags, and a standard backup camera.

It earns a 5/10 safety score from our experts.

The available Convenience and Lighting package adds rear park assist, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alerts, which help offset some of the car’s visibility challenges. That said, the Camaro’s poor outward visibility remains a major caveat, so you should treat parking and lane changes with extra care when test-driving and owning one.

Should I buy a 2016 Chevrolet Camaro or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 29.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 54.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.64% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.38/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2016 brings a completely redesigned body, a better interior, and the latest infotainment tech.

Consider the 2017 if:

• At $23,520, the 2017 costs more than the current year's $21,940 average.
• It adds a more aggressive personality and stronger emphasis on driving excitement.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2016 is the smarter buy because it combines a lower average price with strong owner satisfaction and a redesigned cabin. If you’re willing to spend more for the next model year’s added appeal, the 2017 is the better secondary path for buyers who care most about style and driving character.
