Is the 2015 Toyota Sienna reliable?

The expert driving notes reinforce that sense of dependability by describing improved ride quality, secure handling, and smooth, broad-shouldered acceleration from the V6. The cost-effectiveness notes also mention free scheduled maintenance during the first couple of years of ownership, which helps reduce early ownership friction.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about outright durability and more about finding a well-kept example, since maintenance history and prior use will matter a lot.

What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Toyota Sienna?

At 53.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if the van has been used heavily as a family hauler. Pay close attention to body condition, suspension behavior, and any signs of wear from daily loading and unloading. Because this model is often bought for practicality, condition can vary a lot from one listing to the next.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Limited Premium test vehicle shows how much equipment the upper trims can add, including power sliding doors, power folding third-row seats, front and rear sunroofs, navigation with live traffic, and a rear-seat entertainment system. That makes the higher trims especially appealing if you want maximum family convenience.
• Powertrain: The 3.5-liter V6 makes 266 hp and pairs with a 6-speed automatic transmission. It delivers smooth acceleration, can tow up to 3,500 pounds when properly equipped, and is also available with all-wheel drive.
• Safety package: The available safety tech includes blind-spot monitoring, cross-traffic alert, dynamic radar cruise control, and Pre-Collision System. Safety Connect is reserved for the Limited model.
• Infotainment: The Entune system uses a 7-inch display, and the setup includes a premium JBL audio system, navigation, USB 2.0 fast-charge ports, and connectivity apps. The rear-seat entertainment system can play DVD or Blu-Ray discs and supports HDMI input jacks.
• Fuel efficiency: The EPA estimate is 18 mpg city and 25 mpg highway, with 21 mpg combined. The test vehicle returned 20.1 mpg.

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right listing.

• Deal availability: 32.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,038 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 53.9% of listings are accident-free.

What is the 2015 Toyota Sienna's resale value?

The current average of $15,623 sits slightly above last year's $15,527.

That small increase suggests the market has stayed stable rather than swinging sharply in either direction. For you as a future seller, that kind of pricing pattern usually points to predictable depreciation instead of a sudden drop in value.

Strong owner satisfaction can also help support demand when you eventually resell. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.78/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2015 Toyota Sienna safe?

The 2015 Toyota Sienna earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA and a Top Safety Pick rating from IIHS.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota’s safety suite includes blind-spot monitoring, cross-traffic alert, dynamic radar cruise control, and Pre-Collision System. The expert notes also highlight extra LATCH anchors for securing four child seats, which is a practical family advantage.

One caveat is that the Sienna scored Acceptable in the IIHS small-overlap frontal-crash test, which is a weaker result than its overall safety reputation might suggest. Safety Connect is also limited to the most expensive Limited model.

Should I buy a 2015 Toyota Sienna or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 32.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 53.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.78/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2015 brings broad upgrades, especially in safety, and is described as the best version of the Sienna yet.

Consider the 2014 if:

• At $13,001, the 2014 costs less than the current year's $15,623 average.
• It focuses on utility and functionality for practical family use.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $17,204, the 2016 costs more than the current year's $15,623 average.
• It adds Siri Eyes Free for iPhone users and a bit more tech convenience.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest all-around version of this minivan, the 2015 is the one to target. If your budget matters more than the latest upgrades, the 2014 can save you money, while the 2016 makes sense if you want to pay more for added tech convenience.
