Used 2015 Toyota 4Runner for Sale nearSarasota, FL

How much does the 2015 Toyota 4Runner cost?

Prices have softened 3.30% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,114 listings available, which suggests you should have a workable range of choices.

Is the 2015 Toyota 4Runner a good car?

Generally — 4.4/5 from owners and 7.3/10 from experts. The model scores 9/10 across Form and function and Technology.

Owners consistently praise its smooth ride, comfortable seating, and strong reliability, and they also call out its off-road capability and handy rear window. The overview points you toward a rugged SUV that prioritizes serious trail use and cargo-hauling utility over everyday polish, so it fits you best if capability matters more than family-hauler softness. 31.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2015 Toyota 4Runner reliable?

Owners rate it 4.4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner summary highlights strong reliability, and it also points to a vehicle that many drivers feel good about keeping for the long haul. The expert notes reinforce that with comments about impressive reliability ratings and free maintenance for the first two years or 25,000 miles. For used buyers, the main ownership risk is less about durability and more about accepting the 4Runner’s compromises in fuel use and everyday convenience.

What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Toyota 4Runner?

At 56.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you get too far into the process, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection if the listing has any accident history. Focus your inspection on body condition, underbody wear, and signs that the SUV’s off-road life may have left a mark. Because this model is built for tougher use, you want to confirm that the hardware and cabin still match the seller’s description.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The SR5 is the entry point and comes with rear-wheel drive, while the Trail adds standard 4WD, a locking rear differential, selectable driving modes, crawl control, and Downhill Assist Control. The Limited leans more toward comfort with ventilated front seats, dual-zone climate control, a 15-speaker JBL audio system, keyless entry with push-button start, front and rear parking sensors, and Safety Connect. The Trail is the best fit if you want the strongest off-road hardware for the money.
• Powertrain: The 4Runner uses a 4.0-liter V6 with 270 horsepower and 278 lb-ft of torque, paired with a 5-speed automatic. It is described as adequate rather than exciting, and fuel economy is not a strength.
• Safety package: A standard reversing camera is included, and 4WD models add Active Traction Control and Downhill Assist Control. Safety Connect is reserved for the Limited, and the model lacks several modern active safety features.
• Infotainment: The standard setup uses a 6.1-inch touchscreen with navigation, upgraded stereo speakers, and Entune App Suite smartphone connectivity. The Limited gets a larger 7-inch screen, and the system also includes USB 2.0 charging.
• Fuel efficiency: The EPA says it should return 18 mpg in combined driving, and the owner report notes 16.8 mpg in real-world use.

Which 2015 Toyota 4Runner trim should I buy?

The 2015 Toyota 4Runner is offered in 4 trim levels: SR5, Trail, TRD Pro, and Limited.

Here's the short version:

• SR5: This is the starting point, but the rear-wheel-drive setup makes it the least compelling choice if you want the 4Runner’s core capability. It makes sense only if you are shopping strictly on price and plan to add the right package.
• Trail: This is the best-value trim for most buyers because it adds standard 4WD, a locking rear differential, crawl control, and Downhill Assist Control. If you want the 4Runner for real trail use, this is the trim to target.
• TRD Pro: This is the most specialized off-road version, with Bilstein shocks, TRD front springs, a front skid plate, and off-road tires. Choose it if you want the most aggressive factory setup and are willing to pay for it.
• Limited: This is the comfort-focused choice, with ventilated leather seats, a premium audio system, parking sensors, and Safety Connect. It suits you best if you want the most upscale 4Runner experience rather than the most trail-ready one.

Safety Connect is available only on the Limited.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Toyota 4Runner?

This is a moderate market, so you can shop selectively without expecting a deep bargain on every listing.

• Deal availability: 31.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,114 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.30% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 56.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $21,379, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2015 Toyota 4Runner's resale value?

The current average of $21,491 sits slightly below last year's $22,225.

That softer pricing suggests the market has eased a bit, which can help you buy more carefully now and may also limit how much upside a future seller can expect in the near term. Even so, the 4Runner’s reputation for reliability and utility should help it stay appealing to shoppers who want a rugged SUV with a loyal following. If you keep the vehicle in clean condition and avoid accident history, you should be in a better position when it is time to sell.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2015 Toyota 4Runner safe?

The 2015 Toyota 4Runner earns a 3/10 safety score from our experts.

It comes with a standard reversing camera, but the safety content also notes that it lacks several of the latest active safety features. Toyota reserves Safety Connect for the Limited, where it can provide emergency assistance after a collision or if you need help for another reason. The safety writeup also flags rollover concerns tied to the SUV’s high center of gravity, so you should pay close attention to lane visibility and overall condition when shopping used.

Should I buy a 2015 Toyota 4Runner or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 31.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 56.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.30% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2015 TRD Pro emphasizes hard-core off-road capability and cargo utility.

Consider the 2014 if:

• At $20,330, the 2014 costs less than the current year's $21,491 average.
• It blends rugged capability with comfortable daily driving.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $23,887, the 2016 costs more than the current year's $21,491 average.
• It adds cell-phone navigation and more towing capability.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of current pricing and proven owner satisfaction, the 2015 is the primary path to consider. If your budget is tighter, the 2014 can save you money while keeping the same rugged character. If you want a newer carryover with a few useful upgrades and can spend more, the 2016 is the better follow-up.

How does the 2015 Toyota 4Runner compare to the 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

Our experts score the 2015 Toyota 4Runner 7.3/10 and the 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee 8.7/10.

The 4Runner is the more specialized off-road SUV, while the Grand Cherokee brings stronger overall expert appeal and a more powerful engine. You also get more listings and a lower average used price with the Jeep, but the 4Runner’s owner satisfaction and rugged utility make it the better fit if you care most about trail capability and long-term toughness.
