CarGurus Analysis: 2015 Subaru WRX

Summary
With 61 currently listed for sale near New York, NY and an average price of $11,807, 14.8% of 2015 Subaru WRXs for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2015 Subaru WRX 5 / 5 stars.
55.7% of 2015 WRX models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2015 Subaru WRX stands out as a redesigned, rally-inspired sport compact that kept standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive while moving to a new platform with more interior space, better fuel efficiency, and a stiffer chassis. It also shed the Impreza name and became simply the WRX, which helped give the car a more distinct identity. Under the hood, it used a 2.0-liter turbocharged Subaru Boxer engine rated at 268 hp and 258 lb-ft, paired with a six-speed manual or an available CVT, so it remained focused on performance while broadening its appeal to buyers who wanted an automatic.
This model year also brought a more mature cabin than earlier WRX versions. The 2015 Subaru WRX was offered in Base, WRX Premium, and WRX Limited trims, with cloth upholstery in the lower trims and a leather interior in the Limited. All models included cruise control, but advanced tech such as adaptive cruise control was not available. Owners commonly praise the car’s performance, power, value, and handling, though some note a slight lag in the automatic transmission. That mix of strong driving character, everyday usability, and a few clear compromises is a big part of what makes the 2015 WRX distinctive.

This car is pretty awesome!! Of course its not the sti! But love the features, power, and comfortable. I bought the automatic so there is a 2 second lag when you punch it! But you have a manual option with the paddle shifters on the steering wheel that accommodates that! Other than that this car is very fast has I mode, for when your doing your every day driving, S mode is when you need a little bit more power to over pass a car in the freeway, and # S mode is when your ready to race or need that extra power switches from 6grs to 8grs. If your looking for more power and more tuning options get the Sti. Over all im happy with the wrx . Nothing really compares to it as far as power and torque! And what modifications you can do it!

How much does the 2015 Subaru WRX cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $13,583 |
| Year-Round Low | $13,249.49 |
| Year-Round High | $14,149.59 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $14,153 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −4.03% |
Prices have softened 4.03% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 326 listings available, which suggests you have some room to compare prices and conditions.
If you find a listing below $13,249.49, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2015 Subaru WRX a good car?
Yes — owners give it 5/5, which points to very strong overall satisfaction.
The owner feedback consistently highlights performance, power, and value, and many shoppers also like the features and how it handles in different conditions. That lines up well with this model year’s appeal as a practical sports sedan with standard all-wheel drive and a performance-first personality. If you want something that feels engaging while still working as an everyday car, this model year fits that use case well.
31.6% of listings are marked as good or great deals, so there are still worthwhile opportunities in the market.
Is the 2015 Subaru WRX reliable?
Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback also points to a car that feels dependable and trouble-free enough for many buyers to recommend, especially when you value performance and all-weather usability together. That kind of satisfaction matters because it suggests people who live with the car tend to count on it over time.
For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about the model’s appeal and more about finding one that has been cared for properly.
What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Subaru WRX?
At 52.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with past damage. After that, prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has been modified, driven hard, or has incomplete service records. Focus on overall condition, maintenance consistency, and signs of wear that could affect how the car drives day to day.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Subaru WRX?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, where you can still find value if you shop carefully.
- Deal availability: 31.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 326 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 4.03% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 52.8% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $13,249.49, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2015 Subaru WRX's resale value?
The current average of $13,583 sits slightly below last year's $14,153.
That price movement suggests the market has eased, which can help you buy at a more favorable point if you plan to keep the car for a while. For a future seller, softer pricing today can mean you should be realistic about resale expectations, especially if the car has higher mileage or visible wear. Well-kept examples should still draw interest because this model year has strong enthusiast appeal and broad buyer recognition.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2015 Subaru WRX or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2015 if:
- 31.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 52.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 4.03% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2016 if:
- At $14,400, the 2016 costs more than the current year's $13,583 average.
- It adds a more comfort-focused commuter feel with a serious performance edge.
The bottom line: If you want the better value play, the 2015 is the stronger starting point because pricing has softened and owner satisfaction is excellent. If you’re willing to spend more for a newer model year and a slightly more polished everyday feel, the 2016 is the better secondary path.
