Is the 2015 Subaru BRZ a good car?

Yes — the 2015 Subaru BRZ earns a 4.7/5 user rating and a 7.8/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Performance.

Owners consistently praise its performance and handling, and the nimble suspension and manual transmission option come up often in reviews. The BRZ also stands out as a perfect starter sports car for buyers who want a fun, balanced driving experience rather than straight-line speed. In the context of the BRZ’s compact sports-car mission, that makes it especially appealing if you value feedback, agility, and driver involvement.

Only 30.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so the market still rewards shoppers who move quickly on the right car.

Is the 2015 Subaru BRZ reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Review feedback points to a car that owners feel good about living with over time, with praise centered on its fun-to-drive character and the sense that it delivers a rewarding ownership experience. The expert evaluation also describes it as a car with few shortcomings left to iron out, which supports the idea that it is a mature, well-sorted package.

The BRZ’s dependability story is strongest for buyers who want a simple, enthusiast-focused sports car and are comfortable with its performance limits over the long haul.

What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Subaru BRZ?

At 58.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a careful pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has been modified or driven hard. Focus on body condition, suspension behavior, and signs that the car has been used as an enthusiast toy rather than a commuter. Because this model is built around driving feel, you want to make sure the chassis, controls, and interior equipment still match that mission.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The standard trim comes with automatic climate control, HID headlights, a tilt/telescoping steering wheel, SiriusXM Radio, and Bluetooth integration, while the Limited adds heated seats, keyless access/start, heated mirrors, leather, a spoiler, and fog lamps.
• Powertrain: The BRZ uses a naturally aspirated 200 hp engine with rear-wheel drive, and the power delivery is tuned for responsiveness and a strong power band rather than outright speed.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes front, side, and side-curtain airbags, antilock brakes, and defeatable traction and stability control. The car also has strong braking performance.
• Infotainment: The standard 6.1-inch touchscreen can be frustrating, with lag and freezing that can affect usability.
• Fuel efficiency: The BRZ is rated at 22 mpg city and 30 mpg highway, and the expert evaluation notes 24 mpg during a week of driving.

Which 2015 Subaru BRZ trim should I buy?

The 2015 Subaru BRZ is offered in 2 trim levels: standard trim and Limited.

Here's the short version:

• Standard trim: This is the one to start with if you want the core BRZ experience at the lowest price. You still get automatic climate control, HID headlights, a tilt/telescoping steering wheel, SiriusXM Radio, and Bluetooth integration, so it covers the essentials well for a driver-focused coupe.
• Limited: This is the better-value choice if you want the more complete daily-driver package. It adds heated seats, keyless access/start, heated mirrors, leather, a spoiler, and fog lamps, making it the trim that best balances the BRZ’s enthusiast character with extra comfort and convenience.

The safety equipment is standard across the lineup, so your trim decision mostly comes down to comfort and convenience features rather than a major safety-package difference.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Subaru BRZ?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you should shop carefully and be ready to act when a clean example appears.

• Deal availability: 30.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 93 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 2.81% year-over-year.
• Clean inventory: 58.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $15,326, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2015 Subaru BRZ's resale value?

The current average of $15,965 sits slightly above last year's $15,529.

That upward move suggests the BRZ has held buyer interest well, which can help support resale value if you keep the car in clean condition. Because the market is still showing year-over-year price growth, a well-maintained example should remain appealing to future shoppers. Clean history and strong presentation matter here, especially in a niche sports car market where condition can separate one listing from another.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2015 Subaru BRZ safe?

The BRZ earns four-star ratings in frontal crash and rollover, and five-star ratings in all other NHTSA tests, while IIHS gave it an Acceptable result in front impacts.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes front, side, and side-curtain airbags, antilock brakes, and defeatable traction and stability control. The expert evaluation also notes strong braking performance, with a stop from 60 mph in less than 115 feet. The main caveat is the lower front-impact result, so you should pay close attention to crash history and structural condition when shopping used.

Should I buy a 2015 Subaru BRZ or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 30.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 58.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices are up 2.81% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It adds a retuned suspension, new dampers, a sharkfin antenna, fresh exhaust tips, and an all-new limited-edition trim.

The bottom line: The 2015 BRZ makes sense if you want the sharper suspension tuning and the enthusiast-first character that define this model year. If you’re more price-sensitive, a nearby year may still give you the same core driving experience, but the 2015 stands out for buyers who want the updated feel and can find a clean example at the right price.

How does the 2015 Subaru BRZ compare to the 2015 Ford Mustang?

Our experts score the 2015 Subaru BRZ 7.8/10 and the 2015 Ford Mustang 7.3/10. The BRZ is the better pick if you want a lighter, more balanced sports car with sharper handling and stronger fuel economy. The Mustang brings much more power and a lower starting price, but it also has a higher average used price and a less focused driving feel. If you care most about driver feedback and agility, the BRZ fits better; if you want straight-line performance and more engine output, the Mustang has the edge.
