How much does the 2015 Ford Explorer cost?

Prices have softened 8.54% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,774 listings available, which suggests a healthy amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2015 Ford Explorer a good car?

Generally — the 4.41/5 user rating points to a well-liked SUV, and the review summary highlights comfort, spaciousness, performance, and useful technology. That lines up with the Explorer’s family-oriented role and its appeal if you want room, versatility, and everyday convenience. The same feedback also notes its stylish look and driveability, which helps explain why it remains attractive to shoppers who need a practical midsize SUV. With 30.5% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2015 Ford Explorer reliable?

Owners rate it 4.41/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The review summary points to a vehicle many drivers find dependable for family use, with comfort, performance, and features that make it easy to count on day to day. It also reinforces that the Explorer’s strengths are its spaciousness and useful technology, which often matter most in long-term ownership. For used buyers, the main risk is that this model year’s mixed reliability reputation means condition and maintenance history matter more than average.

What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Ford Explorer?

At 63.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from those with accident records. After that, prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially for signs of body repair, uneven wear, or neglected maintenance. Focus on overall condition and documentation, because the best used examples are likely to be the ones with clear records and consistent care.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Ford Explorer?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 30.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,774 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.54% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 63.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $10,173, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2015 Ford Explorer's resale value?

The current average of $10,173 sits slightly below last year's $11,122.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can limit how much value you recover if you buy at the wrong price. If you plan to sell later, your best protection is to buy well, keep mileage and condition in check, and choose a clean example with strong documentation. A lower entry price today can help offset future depreciation if you avoid overpaying now.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.41/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2015 Ford Explorer or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 30.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 63.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.54% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.41/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $11,868, the 2016 costs more than the current year's $10,173 average.
• Ford refreshed the styling and added a more efficient engine option.

The bottom line: If you want the better value play, the 2015 is the stronger starting point because it costs less and still delivers the Explorer’s core family-friendly strengths. If you’re willing to pay more for updated styling and newer features, the 2016 is the better upgrade path, but price-sensitive buyers should focus on the 2015 and shop carefully for a clean, well-kept example.
