How much does the 2015 Ford Explorer cost?

Prices have softened 9.28% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,632 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for shoppers comparing trims and conditions.

Is the 2015 Ford Explorer a good car?

Generally — the 2015 Ford Explorer earns a 4.4/5 user rating, which points to strong shopper satisfaction. Drivers most often praise its comfort, spaciousness, and performance, and they also like the stylish look and technology. It fits especially well if you want a family-friendly SUV with room and versatility rather than a vehicle focused on fuel economy. With 31.5% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a meaningful number of attractive options to compare.

Is the 2015 Ford Explorer reliable?

Owners rate it 4.4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback describes the Explorer as dependable for everyday family use, with many owners calling out its comfort and driveability. The same feedback also points to a vehicle that can be trouble-free for some buyers when maintained well, especially if you prioritize a roomy, versatile SUV. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that condition can vary widely, so maintenance history matters a lot.

What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Ford Explorer?

At 61.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, especially if the price looks unusually strong. Put inspection priority on body condition, signs of prior repair, and how the SUV drives and shifts under load. Focus on overall condition and maintenance records, since those will tell you more than mileage alone.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Ford Explorer?

This is a moderate market, so you can shop selectively without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 31.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,632 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.28% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 61.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $10,042, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2015 Ford Explorer's resale value?

The current average of $10,042 sits slightly below last year's $11,069.

That softer pricing suggests the Explorer has already absorbed some of its depreciation, which can help future sellers if the market stays steady. If you buy well and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you may have a better chance of limiting further value loss. Demand should remain supported by the model’s family-friendly layout and broad appeal.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2015 Ford Explorer or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 31.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 61.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.28% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $11,675, the 2016 costs more than the current year's $10,042 average.
• Ford refreshed the Explorer with updated styling, more features, and a new Platinum trim.

The 2015 is the better value play if you want a lower entry price and strong shopper satisfaction. If you can stretch your budget and want the refreshed version with more features, the 2016 is the better upgrade path. For price-sensitive buyers, the 2015 remains the more practical choice.

How does the 2015 Ford Explorer compare to the 2015 Chevrolet Traverse?

The Explorer costs more on the used market, but it also brings more horsepower and a larger pool of listings to shop from. The Traverse is cheaper and slightly more efficient on the highway, so it can make sense if your priority is lower purchase price over performance.
