The 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe stands out as a full-size SUV that blends traditional truck-based capability with a more polished cabin and a simpler mechanical setup. It came with a 355hp 5.3-liter V8 engine, a six-speed automatic transmission, and rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive, and Chevrolet kept the trim lineup to just LS, LT, and LTZ. The LTZ also added standard adaptive damping suspension, which helped improve the Tahoe’s ride and handling, and properly equipped models could tow up to 8,600 pounds.
Inside, the 2015 Tahoe offered three rows of seats and seating for up to nine people with the optional front bench seat. It also brought fold-flat third-row seats, which made it easier to use the SUV’s maximum cargo space. Technology was a strength too, with touchscreen infotainment systems available with up to an eight-inch display, along with forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and lane-keeping assist. Buyers could also get an automatic collision notification system through an active OnStar subscription.
At the same time, the 2015 Tahoe had some clear compromises. Its third row was uncomfortable for adults because of the tall rear vehicle floor, and its cargo capacity topped out at 94.7 cubic feet, which was less than some rivals and even less than Chevrolet’s own Traverse crossover SUV.
