Is the 2014 Toyota Venza a good car?

Yes — the 2014 Toyota Venza earns a 4.6/5 user rating and a 6.2/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 9/10.

That lines up with the Venza’s roomy, practical, and distinctive crossover positioning, especially if you want something useful for long trips and cargo without giving up style. Good and great deals account for 31.6% of listings, which suggests there are still some attractive buys in the market.

User feedback repeatedly points to reliability, and the expert cost-effectiveness notes also describe it as reliable and give it the best possible rating for dependability from J.D. Power. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about basic durability and more about finding a well-kept example that has been maintained carefully.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Toyota Venza?

At 53.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you get too far into the process, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection so you can check for prior damage, uneven wear, and signs of poor repairs. Focus especially on body condition, wheel and tire condition, and how the vehicle drives at highway speed.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LE is the standard trim, while the XLE adds leather, Smart Key passive entry, navigation, Entune App Suite services, HD Radio, iTunes song-tagging capability, a reversing camera, a power tailgate, heated front seats, a 4-way power front passenger’s seat, and memory for the driver’s seat and mirror settings. The Limited adds a panoramic glass sunroof, a larger 7-inch high-resolution infotainment touchscreen, a premium JBL audio system, front and rear parking-assist sensors, automatic HID headlights with automatic high-beam operation, LED running lights, and larger 20-inch aluminum wheels.
• Powertrain: The standard 2.7-liter 4-cylinder gets the job done, while the available 3.5-liter V6 is the upgrade to choose. The V6 brings much stronger performance with only a small highway fuel-economy penalty, and all-wheel drive is available.
• Safety package: The Venza comes standard with a driver’s knee airbag and blind-spot side-mirror designs. A reversing camera is optional on the LE and standard on the XLE and Limited, while the Limited also adds front and rear parking-assist sensors. It does not offer blind-spot information, lane-departure warning, forward-collision warning, or Safety Connect.
• Infotainment: The standard touchscreen is 6.1 inches, and the Limited upgrades to a 7-inch high-resolution infotainment touchscreen. Smartphone pairing is easy, navigation is available, and the system supports Entune App Suite services on the XLE.
• Fuel efficiency: The 4-cylinder is rated at 26 mpg on the highway, and the V6 is also rated at 26 mpg on the highway.

Which 2014 Toyota Venza trim should I buy?

The 2014 Toyota Venza is offered in 3 trim levels: LE, XLE, Limited.

Here's the short version:

• LE: This is the entry point, and it makes the Venza’s roomy, stylish, practical formula accessible at the lowest price. It’s the trim to consider if you want the basics and plan to add only the options you truly need.
• XLE: This is the best-value trim because it adds the most meaningful everyday upgrades, including leather, Smart Key passive entry, navigation, Entune App Suite services, a reversing camera, heated front seats, and memory settings. If you want the sweet spot between price and equipment, this is the one to target.
• Limited: This is the most fully equipped version, with the panoramic glass sunroof, larger 7-inch touchscreen, premium JBL audio, parking-assist sensors, automatic HID headlights, LED running lights, larger 20-inch wheels, and the standard V6 engine. Choose it if you want the most features and the strongest standard powertrain.

The safety-package note to keep in mind is that the reversing camera is optional on the LE but standard on the XLE and Limited, and the Limited adds front and rear parking-assist sensors.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Toyota Venza?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market.

• Deal availability: 31.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 212 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.08% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 53.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $11,626, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Toyota Venza's resale value?

The current average of $11,813 sits slightly below last year's $12,189.

That softer pricing suggests the Venza is still a value-oriented used buy, but it also means future sellers may need to stay realistic on asking price. The current trend points to steady demand rather than strong appreciation, so condition and equipment will matter a lot when you eventually resell. Well-kept examples with desirable features should hold up better than rougher ones.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2014 Toyota Venza safe?

The 2014 Venza earns five-star ratings from NHTSA and Good ratings from IIHS.

It earns a 4/10 safety score from our experts.

The Venza comes standard with a driver’s knee airbag and blind-spot side-mirror designs. A reversing camera is optional on the LE and standard on the XLE and Limited, while the Limited also offers front and rear parking-assist sensors. It does not include blind-spot information, lane-departure warning, forward-collision warning, or Safety Connect telematics with Automatic Collision Notification.

The main caveat is that the IIHS has not evaluated small-overlap frontal-impact crash protection for this vehicle, and the lack of modern crash-prevention tech is a real limitation for family buyers.

Should I buy a 2014 Toyota Venza or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 31.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 53.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.08% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Expert or safety highlight specific to this year: it’s roomy, comfortable, safe, and stylish, but it lacks modern safety technologies.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $13,697, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $11,813 average.
• It offers a roomy, practical interior with a stronger value equation.

The bottom line: If you want the better bargain, the 2014 is the smarter starting point because it combines lower pricing with solid owner satisfaction and a decent supply of listings. If you’re willing to spend more for a slightly newer example, the 2015 can make sense, but price-sensitive buyers should focus on the 2014 and shop carefully for condition and equipment.

How does the 2014 Toyota Venza compare to the 2014 Nissan Rogue?

Our experts score the 2014 Toyota Venza 6.2/10 and the 2014 Nissan Rogue 6.7/10.

The Venza gives you more power and a roomier, more distinctive feel, while the Rogue is the more efficient and less expensive used buy. The Venza also has the stronger owner satisfaction signal, but the Rogue’s lower average price and larger listing pool make it easier to shop. If you want style and comfort, the Venza has the edge; if you want efficiency and value, the Rogue is the easier recommendation.
