How much does the 2014 Toyota RAV4 cost?

Prices are up 3.16% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.

There are 1,861 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2014 Toyota RAV4 a good car?

Yes — 4.88/5. The expert rating is 6.5/10.

The standout strength is Form and function at 8/10.

Owners consistently praise its reliability, smooth driving experience, and spacious interior. The review summary also points to good gas mileage and a practical, easygoing character that fits everyday use well.

Given the overview’s emphasis on cargo space and utility, this is the kind of crossover that makes sense if you want space and versatility more than flash. 32.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so there are still some attractive opportunities in the market.

Is the 2014 Toyota RAV4 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.88/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The review summary repeatedly points to reliability, and it also frames the RAV4 as a practical choice you can count on for a variety of needs. The expert evaluation likewise describes it as dependable, with a near-impervious reputation for being the practical choice.

The powertrain write-up adds that the engine uses durable hardware, which supports the impression of trouble-free ownership. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about basic dependability and more about finding a well-kept example that hasn’t been worn down by age, mileage, or neglect.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Toyota RAV4?

At 54.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle-history report and then prioritize a thorough inspection of bodywork, alignment, and braking performance. Because this model’s safety story includes a notable frontal-crash caveat, condition and repair quality matter even more than usual. It also makes sense to focus on how the vehicle drives in everyday use, since the RAV4’s appeal is tied to utility and smooth commuting rather than excitement.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Limited trim adds the most equipment, including the full-featured Entune JBL media system, navigation, blind-spot monitoring, cross-traffic alert, lane-departure alerts, and auto high beams. The base setup is much more limited, so feature gaps are a major part of the trim decision.
• Powertrain: The RAV4 uses a 176-hp 2.5-liter inline 4-cylinder with a 6-speed automatic. AWD is rated at 22 mpg city/29 highway, while FWD is rated at 24/31.
• Safety package: The Technology Package adds blind-spot monitoring, cross-traffic alert, lane-departure alerts, and auto high beams. Those features are limited to the Limited trim with that package.
• Infotainment: The Limited trim’s Entune JBL multimedia system includes apps and services, navigation, Pandora, Bing search, and selected news feeds. The screen can be finicky and washes out in direct sunlight.
• Fuel efficiency: AWD is rated at 22 mpg city/29 highway, with a combined EPA rating of 25. FWD is rated at 24/31.

Which 2014 Toyota RAV4 trim should I buy?

The 2014 Toyota RAV4 is offered in 1 trim level: Limited.

Here's the short version:

The Limited: is the trim to target if you want the most complete version of this RAV4. It brings the richer Entune JBL multimedia setup, navigation, and the available Technology Package, which adds blind-spot monitoring, cross-traffic alert, lane-departure alerts, and auto high beams. If you want the best-equipped version and can live with the tech quirks, this is the one that makes the most sense.

The safety-package note is important here: the most useful driver-assistance features are tied to the Limited trim with the Technology Package.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Toyota RAV4?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 32.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,861 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 3.16% year-over-year.
• Clean inventory: 54.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $12,843, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Toyota RAV4's resale value?

The current average of $13,687 sits slightly above last year's $13,268.

That year-over-year increase suggests the market still values this RAV4’s mix of space, utility, and everyday practicality. For a future seller, that’s a helpful sign: demand appears steady enough to support pricing, especially for clean examples with good history and strong condition.

Because the model’s appeal is tied to usefulness rather than novelty, well-kept vehicles should remain easier to move than neglected ones. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.88/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2014 Toyota RAV4 safe?

The 2014 Toyota RAV4 earns a Poor rating in the IIHS small-overlap frontal-offset crash test and four-star ratings for frontal crash protection and rollover from NHTSA, with five-star ratings in all other NHTSA tests.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

The safety equipment includes 8 airbags, full-length curtain airbags, a driver’s-knee airbag, Whiplash-Injury-Lessening Seats, and stability and traction control. The available Technology Package adds blind-spot monitoring, cross-traffic alert, lane-departure alerts, and auto high beams.

The weak small-overlap result is the main caution here, so if safety is a top priority, you should pay close attention to crash history and repair quality on any used example.

Should I buy a 2014 Toyota RAV4 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 32.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 54.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices are up 3.16% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 4.88/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It offers class-leading cargo capacity and a dependable, practical driving character.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $14,772, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $13,687 average.
• It adds improved crash-test ratings and a more appealing overall package.

The bottom line: Choose the 2014 if you want the lower entry price and a proven, practical crossover with strong owner satisfaction. If you can stretch your budget, the 2015 is the better path for buyers who want the same basic formula with improved safety credentials.
